Belichick not give Tom enough credit?

Also: did anyone else notice how he knocked over the AFC Champions hat at the start of the postgame interview?

That's ****ing great.

Recently, I do think there is one QB he'd rather have and that is why he didn't say that again. It's been BB's standard go to line when Brady has an amazing performance or wins a game of this significance.

Bottom line is BB wants his legacy to include Brady, yes, but his ego also wants his legacy to not be all about Brady. But... it's too late. Brady and BB are intertwined for ever and BB is never coaching a team with out TB12 as his starting QB because it could "COULD" expose him. We all know his record as a HC with the Browns and his record with the Pat w/o Brady is .500 (19-19). Not exactly GOAT numbers!

Deep down this kills him. He resents Brady for it. I also believe it was why he threw him smack down under the bus during Deflategate. BB wanted to damage Brady's reputation.

Please Don't kill me - that has always been MHO and I have never budged from it! Deflategate Presser is when Brady lost BB and BB lost Brady. I also believe that Kraft made BB come out with that impromptu presser the infamous 'Mona Lisa Veto' to make up for the damage he caused Brady a week prior!

Bill doesn't give Brady the praise he is due but does that for a reason. He knows Brady plays better with a chip on his shoulder and he isn't going to get it from anywhere else.

BB has also said there is no QB he would rather have and has stated (though I don't think to Brady's face) he is the best QB ever.

I think he said so when SF called about maybe trading for Brady.

So that is why he does it. Brady I think has grown to really dislike it over the years and it may cause some minor friction but it isn't a big deal. I think he knows why BB does it but still at some point who wouldn't think "How much longer are you going to play this game Bill? What do I have to do to get you to talk about me the same way you do about a special team role player?"

Also I do believe there is an ego thing with BB and he dislikes how he is stuck in Brady's shadow a bit. He wants to prove he can do it without him and now he will never get the chance likely.

A Head Coach has 53 guys playing for him. Guys he needs to have all in in practice and on game day. While a hand is fundamental to QB performance, a good number of the 53 are playing through one or MORE physical injuries and are likely in pain as the practice and play. If he makes a big deal about a cut hand what does that say to the others?
Even TFB said he's had more serious injury issues to deal with than the hand.

Can we talk about something more important: the shirt Bill was wearing at the postgame presser?

Did he cut that thing out of some sweats?

I just read one theory that Belichick's eyes go wide about Amendola because he had so much vitriol for Welker, and then Amendola was not welcomed with opened arms so much by fans in the first 2 seasons (until his coming out party in the 14 playoffs).. since 14 playoffs and SB fans have treated him as legend and he deserves it. But there was a lot of wailing about Dola his first 2 seasons after Welker, and it looks like Belichick remembers.

Over what? If anything Tom should be jealous of Bill’s good looks.

I noticed BB doesn't wear the AFCCG hat or anything. I don't even think he wore a SB hat after last year's comeback.

As I said earlier, he knocked it over at the start of the presser.

I saw it and had another reaction. Belichick is always reticent to discuss injuries. There is not upside in disclosing anything more to the media than absolutely necessary. Besides, right after the final whistle you can see the raw emotion. He knows who won the game for him.
I thought the BB cheer at the end of the game (which everyone is making fun of today) was a gut reaction (the same as a lot of people) that said, "Holy crap! We ARE going to win this !@#@! game!"

I remember Jules saying to BB after the SB last year “You gotta believe”. BB said “Of course”. He does not give props for never giving up. He expects it.

By making the comment Bill ended the hand story. Good coaching. He has said Brady is one of toughest guys in the league plenty of times. On to game planning for the Eagles.

Agreed. His mindset is that a win is a team effort. He's not going to come out and praise Brady or lament his injury to the exclusion of other guys who are also dealing with injuries and trying to play their best. That doesn't mean he doesn't respect Brady or think he's awesome. And the jealousy stuff is just a joke. If there is anyone who is not jealous or insecure or anything other than singular-mindedly trying to win the next game, it's BB. In that vein, he's also trying to say that the hand injury isn't a big deal for the Super Bowl.

The open heart surgery comment is completely in keeping with what Bill would say at a press conference about an injury. I’m surprised anyone is trying to spin it as anything else but I expect that’s the Wickersham effect.

And is it inside out?

Disagree 100%. What does he say when they win?

"players play"
"it's a players game"

I've always felt he takes pride in the fact he's coached two of the best all-time in Brady and LT. It's his job to get them in position to make the plays. They still have to do it it. I don't think his ego is fragile that he resents any of it. He knows he's great, he doesn't need anyone stroke him and tell him how good he is.

It has been my experience every man needs to be stroked and told how great he is. Difference with Bill IMO is he only needs it from Linda and she appears to be doing a fine job

I think BB knows what we all know. Brady is the GOAT.

Think about this for a second: from the entire Patriots offense, over the last 17 years, who makes the hall of fame? Not Pats HOF but the NFL HOF. Brady and Gronk? Who else?

nevermind, Randy Moss was already mentioned

The overall point is still valid though.

Bill Belichick surprisingly unimpressed with his QB, downplays Tom Brady hand injury

I don't necessarily feel this way.. But When asked about Dola (who was totally awesome) Belichick does seem to fawn all over him on and on (as much as Belichick ever could anyway)

And when asked about Tom's dealing with the tough hand situation, though he admits "Tom is a tough guy we all know that", he really does kind of belittle it.

That in and of itself is no big deal to me, its his way, except that he really did just fawn all over Dola, eventually stating that if you looked in the dictionary for "football player" there would be a picture of Dola..

Sincerely wondering what folks think..

And not only that, but I heard Belichick didn't name Brady as Patriot of the Week either!!!!!
