Laugh on...

In the past 4 seasons (2004 - 2007), Gates had more yards, more receptions and more touchdowns.

GATES: 250 Rec, 3096 Yards, 33 TD's
R. MOSS: 160 Rec, 2508 Yards, 25 TD's

You can argue systems, schemes, whatever... those numbers do not lie.

In fact, in the past 2 seasons, the top receiver named MOSS wasn't even Randy Moss.

Still feel like laughing?

Nah, I feel too bad for you to laugh at your simple a*s. It must be tough, constantly pushing on doors that say "pull" and accidentally eating from ashtrays.

I don't know if you noticed on Sunday, but there's a big difference for a guy like Randy Moss when he's got Tom Brady throwing footballs at him. I mean, I know Andrew Walter and Kerry Collins are studs, but there's definitely a slight increase.

By midseason they're going to be calling him the best player in the NFL again, let alone reciever of any stripe, shape, or color.

If you like comparing, how about Brady to Rivers????

But I wasn't comparing Brady to Rivers. The discussion was whether or not Randy Moss is better than Antonio Gates. And I still maintain that the answer to that question is yes. All things being equal (and even when they weren't), Gates is much better offensively than Moss. Now imagine Brady + Gates compared to Brady + Moss.

I fully admit that Tom Brady is many times better than Philip Rivers. Rivers is a very good QB for his second year starting, but Tom is a great QB. The main difference is the hardware... Tom's got 3 rings... Philip has zero. I mean come on... 3 Super Bowl wins in what? 6 years? Tom's a ridiculously good QB and I'm not a stupid homer fan that will argue that. At the end of their careers things may be different, but any fool can see that right now Brady > Rivers.

I know I'm not going to convince you so let me just say that I wish the Patriots the best of luck on Sunday and may the better team win. No excuses from either side. We can continue this discussion next Monday if you'd like.

Edit: Do you know what I find really annoying? Some Patriots fans are really cool to talk football with. I haven't called your team cheaters, launched personal attacks, etc. yet I get called an @ss for quoting numbers that anyone else can verify for themselves.

Then we agree. Good talk.

Oh come on man, it's all fun. Like it's just us. Have you been to a Jets or Steelers board?

Relax.

And, truthfully man, I'd have given your argument more weight if it wasn't completely braindead. Of course Gates has better numbers than Moss since he was in Oakland. They had no line or quarterback, and last year their coach was calling plays that haven't worked since George W Bush was snorting coke off of strippers feet.

Do come Monday or a week from Monday. Fans here are not in a very good mood. We dealt with thousands of trolls yesterday (no exageration). You are not one. We actually welcome fans from other teams to discuss football. And yes, there will be those among us who are notorious homers, and that should be OK. This is a patriot board.

You may be surprised that there are many here who ahve great respect for the colts and their organization. Personally, I believe that they are second to ours. I expect us to continue to be rivals for years to come.

And yes, I would rather have added Moss this year than Gates.

I completely agree with both arguments. Stat wise Gates has been better than many WR's in the NFL the last few years. Certainly the best TE considering the QB's that have been throwing to him.

Certainly Randy Moss had horrific numbers with lousy QB's,play calling and Line play. He was an elite WR in Minnesota. We've all watched the highlight reals with jealousy back in the day. I would like nothing better than to watch Moss do those same things in New England all season long. However I'm still cautiously optimistic given that this athlete laid down for the Raiders regardless how hopeless the situation.

Wes Welker gave all with the crappy dolphins. Gates has not always been on great teams as evidenced by Eli Manning refusing to go there. {Big Mistake Eli} But Gates always played hard no matter who was throwing him the ball. Unlike Moss, who basically chose to exile himself rather than play with lousy personal and coaching.

It's pretty evident the time frame mentioned by Bolts fan indicates that Gates has been a much more productive player. It is certain that overall Moss has had a better career stat wise. The only way Moss can disprove this is to go out and play like he did in Minnesota. 1 down 18 to go.

Hahahahahaha!

You think Antonio Gates is a better offensive weapon than Randy Moss...

Hahahahahahahahaha.

Oh man is it going to sting.

Please I'd take Gates anyday over a malcontent like Moss

Great post.

Athletically, Moss is a force, but like you pointed out, he gives the appearance of not giving 100% no matter what and that bothers me in a team sports. If he works out for the Patriots, it will go down in the books as one of the best off-season free agent acquisition. If not, he will simply give more ammunition to his detractors.

Gates is also very athletic, but he had to fight to get to where he is. From being told he was too small for a basketball player, to walking onto the Chargers and proving he can play in the NFL without playing a single down in college, he had to fight for a spot. I personally believe this built character and will make him a better player in the long run.

Either way, it will be a great game this weekend. May the better team win.
