Exit Dion Lewis?

I think we need him. Second most important back IMO
He has been the most consistent back in many games where the other backs could not seem to get beyond the LOS. He runs great in between the tackles for someone size. I cannot understand why he isn't being used more to start this season. I do feel they've dangled him out there and maybe just haven't gotten what they believe is the right offer. IMO, it's a mistake to trade him. I hope that they're just choosing to manage his snaps early in hopes of having him in January and, hopefully, February.

Just my opinion but I think Lewis needs his snap count monitored. Of the three key backs in last night's game, Lewis is (again just my opinion) the one I worry most about getting injured on a routine tackle.

Perhaps.... but if you think Lewis can help you win games, there really isn't any reason to not play him.

This whole idea of keeping players on a pitch count sounds nice in theory.... but that's typically not Belichick's M.O. and I'm not sure it really applies to football, where there are significantly fewer games in a season. Not even Gronk gets the bubble wrap treatment - for better or worse, the coaches don't use him sparingly.

To me, Lewis' limited touches seems more of a gameplan or role-based issue. For one, the offense has had to pass a lot more (relying on James White's superior receiving skills and route running) to keep pace with all the points surrendered by our defense. Also, given his larger size, Gilislee seems to be the preferred choice as a power runner. Just my observation...

One thing is clear though, Lewis brings value to our offense. And the Patriots are still trying to work out kinks and improve on both sides of the ball. Hopefully Lewis' carves a biggger role for himself, sees his reps increase, and gets a nice payday in free agency (could be his last time to cash in)

I don't think it will happen, but I'm very sure that many of the moves Belichick has made over the years would have been met with similar disagree/dislikes/lame one-liners too.

I like Lewis a lot. Hope he stays and the Pats win many more games with him. I also think the Pats need more draft picks in the pipeline, which are typically not accumulated by fan trades where you get rid of the guys you don't really want anyway.

Lewis has 18 very obvious snaps last night, seems as though they are managing his playing time.. nice luxury to have.

Do not see him going, however there is a long list of Pats players who are on the bubble and might be saying good bye in the next ten days..

I might actually give that nod to Gillislie who showed some good burst and power, despite his limited role.

I ultimately think Gillislie and Lewis are their most talented RBs. Right now White appears to be more consistent and dependable, but as has always been the case his ceiling is quite low.

I think they all have a role.

Not to open up another can of worms, but if I was going to trade a player I might look closely at Gronk. Again, I'm not saying I would, but I'd entertain the idea given Gronk's injury issues and the what he could possibly net in return.

Low ceiling = super bowl dominance ?

Would be shocked if Belichick doesn't turn at least one of his players into a sacrificial lamb

Putting my money on Branch (sadly). Who else is on the list?

I'd just like to note that in the other Lewis thread, I called him the most dynamic RB on the patriots roster, the best pure runner....lots of people disagreed with me. My stupid lying eyes.

If anything, Lewis needs to be used more. He looks as if that explosiveness from 2015 has finally started to return. That run that he had off the B gap behind Mason and Cannon last night shows it. Exploded through the LOS and got to the second level at the drop of a hat.

Featured more tonight, Pats have the mini-bye coming, they could use help now and draft picks later.

A move in the next day or two wouldn't surprise me.

I'd rather keep him as another weapon for Brady who is down Edelman, Mitchell, Burkhead and now Gronk

If something happens to White then we would be up **** creek without Lewis

Right because we've seen how easy it is for players from other teams to grasp the offense and fit right in with defensive schemes and communications. Especially someone with ZERO training camp arriving mid season. Only mediots could be this stupid with unfounded speculation.

We won last night by the slimmest of margins. Why reduce an offense that could only drop 19 on TB?
If White were to be injured, we'd have no pass threat from the RB position w/o Lewis.

[Boston sports fan accent] Who cares! Trade him! [/Boston sports fan accent]

Branch

Harris

Allen

Richards (although he probably won't go since he is worth keeping as a STO player)

Allen isn't going anywhere as long as Solder is sucking as badly as he is.

Yes, we would need to sign or trade for another blocking TE. But you are probably correct.

I'd hate to trade him only to NEED him later if injury issues persist.
