Who should the Pats have signed?

I thought of Talib as well. He definitely would have locked down a corner spot with consistency over these yrs. Him coupled with Butler and we're possibly not having this conversation about Gilmore.

This is grass-is-always-greener talk. Go look at what was said about him on this board around the time he left.

I'm not saying it didn't happen but can we get another source than Warren Sapp?

Another source of that specific instance, or another source of him dropping n-bombs in general? Because he left this voicemail for Jonathan Martin that was uncovered in the bullygate investigation:

Hey, wassup, you half n——r piece of sh-t. I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. [I want to] sh-t in your f—king mouth. [I’m going to] slap your f—king mouth. [I’m going to] slap your real mother across the face [laughter]. F—k you, you’re still a rookie. I’ll kill you.

Dispicable

I'm not at liberty to say... I'm just making an educated guess so maybe I should've prefaced that...

So how are you "educated" exactly? I mean, if you are going to have Belichick cut these guys he's probably going to want to know what your credentials are

Yeah, in hindsight letting him walk and getting Revis instead may have been a mistake, but it's one I was happy to see the Pats make at the time. Talib had what appeared to be a chronically bum hip while he was here, and credit to him for apparently getting it fixed in Denver but knowing what they knew at the time I can't fault the Pats at all for doing what they did. If he's here instead of Revis in 2014, there's a good chance we wouldn't have that fourth ring anyway.

Me no can read that. What that mean?

He knows where to find me.

So Incognito seems to be a consensus hit on not signing. Who did they miss?

Who would Pryor have displaced? Any "non-skill" players, i.e., either line since they seem to catch a lot of flack?
JJBrown - First time I've ever replied to a disagree mark because they have always disagreed with a statement (and I'm bored). This was a question- "Who would Pryor have displaced? Any "non-skill" players, i.e., either line since they seem to catch a lot of flack?"

You disagree with the question?

Yes I remember. I didn't get into specifics just made a generalization of what ifs but good point to bring up it up. Talib's ship had sailed at that point.

Jabar Gaffney in 2009. Signed with Denver after the 2008 season for 4y/$10m.

$2,5m/year so that Brady could have an actual 3rd WR instead of essentially no one in 2009 and Brandon Tate in 2010 seems like it would have been a good investment.

Note that tate had 0 catches in the NYJ playoff loss and Hernandez(with I believe a gimpy hip) had 1 catch for 4 yards.

Interesting comparable to David Givens earlier? Didn't do much elsewhere but would have been worth it in New England?

He put up 732, 875, and 947 yards in 2009-2011, three best seasons of his career. That is a little bit more than nothing. And I think clearly shows he would have been a valuable #3 receiver on teams that essentially had nothing at the position.

Certainly better than Ochocino in 2011 . Cheaper too. If Brady has Gaffney instead of Ochocinco maybe they the win SB in 2011. Not to mention him possible helping in 2010 playoff game as well.

You're making my point? Or no? I was saying Givens was great here but not so much elsewhere.

Who should they have signed:

Jared Cook or Lance Kendricks because Dwayne Allen is terrible. A coverage LB like Zach Brown would be nice.

EDIT: And depending on how the season plays out A.J. Bouye or Logan Ryan may have been better than Gilmore.
