This spring the team had the smarts to bring back safety Duron Harmon. The re-signing of the third starter because he plays so many snaps was a win/win.

I'm really hoping that either David Jones or Demarius Travis forces Bill to rid his team of the inexcusable mistake otherwise known as Jordan Richards.

While Jones has the size & straight-line speed to serve as backup SS, he might not have the box instincts or demeanor for the position. He plays more like a FS, but the COD skills needed there might be lacking: his 3-cone time at his pro day, for example, was just plain bad for a DB (7.31).

Travis, on the other hand does have the instincts & demeanor, and enough size, to serve as backup SS. Unfortunately for him, he just isn't a very good athlete, except at the one skill that Jones doesn't have: COD.

I think we see an UDFA make it at SS this year, and it will be interesting to see if either one of these obvious choices can show something in the next 6 weeks.
