As soon as Matt Ryan was announced at #10 I went straight to the Falcons board lol!

Or you could just not watch the top 100...

Mommy, I'm scared!

HAHAHHAHAHHAHA!

Oh the Shyte storm that will rain down from Atlanta...

Let's face it the last time Atlanta got torched as bad as that 2nd half was Sherman's march.

He's got a point: you can turn those negatives into fuel... like if the league colluded on multiple occasions to disrupt the Pats on the eve of the SB and steal the team's draft picks. Now that'll put a bee in your bonnet...

Boo freakin boo Atlanta. "We're so mad we can't play at a high level for 60 minutes... you guys better all watch out..."

It's still a travesty that Edelman only was #71. He's easily in the top 10. But as I've described in detail elsewhere, one of the key reasons the Patriots win so consistently is that they're underestimated: the other players don't even understand why they're good. (Even on this board, there are always a lot of people chiming in on threads like this who can't understand why Edelman is great).

The Brady rating is mostly interesting to me because it demonstrates how the NFL's PR blitz against Brady failed.

Hell, most Patriot fans don't realize how good Edelman is.

I am glad Brady is #1 but the list is horrible.

Biggiest issues with it.

#7 Elliot - Dude is good but that line makes him look better. (More like #25)
#10 Ryan - I know why they did it but he was made a star by guys around him. Not the other way (More like #20... we need to give him some props)
#14 Dak - Lets not get too froggy yet (more like #30)
#15 Aaron Donald - No respect! (more like #5)
#22 Big Ben - Had a down year. No freebies (more like #70)
#31 Stafford - Nope. Not good enough this year to make it at all
#36 Tyreek Hill - Depends. He is on this list due to STs. If we do that we need to count guys like Slater. Since Slater isn't on the list neither should Hill be.
#37 Talib - WAY too low. (more like #10)
#44 Cam Newton - No.
#45 Larry Fitz - Wasn't able to keep a strong start up. Doesn't make it.
#50 Mariota - Good young QB. Not top 100 yet. But did better than his stats say. Was close. Give him some decent WR options and 1 more year.
#58 Zach Martin - #58? Are you kidding me? Best OL in the league is #58? (More like #5)
#61 - Hilton - He isn't flashy as far as the big body but he is just as effective as many other guys. Needs more respect. (More like #30)
#63 Chris Harris - Bit low. (More like #40)
#71 Edelman - I love Edelman but there are some WRs he is making it over i don't agree with. Not top 100 but very good.
#73 Rivers - Nope. Not this year.
#74 Harrison Smith - What a slap in the face to maybe the best safety in the NFL. More like #15.
#77 Ha-Ha Clinton Dix - Was okay but no.
#78 Brian Orakpo - Good player. Not top 100.
#80 Blount - Nope. Pretty good year but not a top 100 player.
#81 Alex Smith - Really? Are they serious?
#82 Clay Matthews - Nope. At one time sure. Not right now.
#86 Casey - Nope.
#87 Travis Frederick - Dallas OL and OL in general gets no respect. More like #30
#89 Thomas Davis - Too old sadly
#91 Alexander - Goes to show sacks aren't everything. Shouldn't make the list
#98 Peterson - Really?
#99 Butler - Maybe should be a tad higher but a lot of good CBs.

Gronk/JJ Watt/J. Houston - They don't get to make it. Just not in enough snaps.

I could find more things wrong with the list but in the end I might making a top 100 of my own and i don't have the time. simple run down.

More respect for the OL and defense and LBs. Less for QBs, and big names who have fallen off. Also you need to make it clear if you are including STs or not. You just don't include 1 STer. You include 5 or so worthy ones or none at all.

You know this was a list based on player votes, right? It wasn't some Football Outsiders exercise or similar attempt at a thoughtful ranking.

Regards,
Chris

I was curious to see the player's voting between Rodgers and Brady since 2011 (I think that's fair since Rodgers won the Super Bowl and SBMVP for the first season.)

2011:
1. Brady
11. Rodgers

2012:
1. Rodgers
4. Brady

2013:
4. Brady
6. Rodgers

2014:
3. Brady
11. Rodgers

2015:
2. Rodgers
3. Brady

2016:
2. Brady
6. Rodgers

2017:
1. Brady
6. Rodgers

Average Rank
Brady - 2.57
Rodgers - 6.14

Brady has been in the top 4 all seven seasons. Rodgers has only been in the top 5 in two out of seven seasons.

Not that this poll means a lot, but it does go to show players don't believe Aaron Rodgers is as good as the media portrays him to be or as good as his statistics.

The Falcons forum is becoming more entertaining than that of the Jets and Bills.

Some hilarious stuff there.

I'm glad you brought up the mass cultural phenomenon surrounding Alex Smith. Seeing him at #81 makes me realize how capable human beings are of irrational thought, particularly when in large masses of people. I can see black and white video reels of dictators from the 1930s proclaiming Alex Smith as the 81st best player, with the frenzied spectators pounding their chests and screaming in excitement. And once you believe that, you will believe anything.

Chicago Bears, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers didn't have a single player appear in the top 100.
I don't think the jets would have many in the top 1000.

Looking at their currrnt depth chart unless we count forte who will be 32 this year has been under 900 yards last 2 years and averaged 3.7 last year (clearly you shouldnt) there isn't a single player on offense that is average or better for their position. I don't even see any arguables.

Defensively they have the 3 highly touted DL but they totally sucked last year on defense. There is no one in the LB or secondary group that you could call average or better at this point either.
They are worse than the browns, and it's not really even close.

The Super Bowl completely changed the narrative. No more Manning in the discussion and Montana has been passed. Brady is now and forever will be the GOAT, and everyone knows it, even if they won't admit it,

Manning never should have been in the discussion.

Pure porn.
No kidding. I could watch it a 100 times. We are so freaking lucky to have him as our QB.
(& holy cow, he is SO attractive in game mode)

Manning never should have been in the discussion.

Agree completely, his playoff record alone disqualified him in my book, but many were enamored with his touchdowns and passing yards so he hung around until Brady won #4. Then only Montana was left but Brady ended that with the greatest comeback in NFL history and Lombardi #5. Now I want to watch Brady rack up 2-3 more and put everyone so far in the distance that he will never be touched. Next up the 200 regular season wins mark, but I also think he has a real shot at 30 playoff wins, which would also be insurmountable. He's also got a shot at 250 total wins, which would be sick.

Few outside New England fully appreciate the 25 playoff wins and counting. Or 11 Conference Championship Game appearances. These are both virtually unbreakable records, and they are still growing.

Let's say he plays 4 years.
Given his history and the state of the team today I would say it is reasonable to predict he could get 2 more rings, 50 regular season wins and 8 more post season

He should easily pass everyone in yards, needing just over 10k but Brees is 5k ahead so how long he goes could determine that. Brees aside he should own that in 2019.
He is only 83 TDs from the record so that should come in 2019 ad well and he is only 9 behind Brees (thanks roger).
He also needs 7 4th quarter comebacks to be #1 but it's not quite a fair stat because he doesn't get as many opportunities.
If Rodgers throws a few more picks Brady also had a chance to be #1 all time in int%.
