Patriots defensive tackle Alan Branch, who mostly spends his offseasons at his primary residence in Arizona and traditionally doesn't take part in voluntary offseason work, was back in town Wednesday for a physical and general check-in at Gillette Stadium. It was his first time back in town since agreeing to a two-year contract with a maximum value of $12 million last month, which should be the catalyst for his contract with the Patriots to become official in the coming days.


Note that the contract in reality is a 2y/8.5M/3M gtd/3.7M cap hit 2017

Yeah. It's nice to see that New England isn't maxing out it's credit cards signing these guys. Don't get me wrong. I'm all about guys getting paid, and guys earning as much as they can. But any good business has to work within it's budget, just like every family does, if it wants to succeed. Sometimes it means you have to do with a little less, in order for everyone to get fed. Or something like that.
