Just in case you haven't seen this before...

I always find it interesting when Pioli talks about how they already had 40 players and they were over the cap and set at QB, so they just kept passing on him.

Decision-making & desire > pure skill.

I think the decision-making comes from the desire. You don't make the right decision out of pure instinct, you practice that **** over and over. You diagram and diagnose over and over. That's what I think makes Tom the best ever and it is fueled by his will and his desire to win.

Also, is there a better value pick-up in the history of any sport that does anything like draft or free agency?

Desire is certainly huge, but when focused in the wrong places, it often produces unwanted results. Brady has the humility and flexibility of mind to continually refocus his desire where it is most useful. He became the water.

If the 2000 draft was re-done with perfect knowledge of the future*, Brady would've been the #1 pick, which means he would've been chosen by the Browns who would've ruined him in a few years. He'd be working at a car dealership now with Brady Quinn as his boss.

* But then if THAT draft was re-done with perfect knowledge of the future, everybody would've seen how Brady tanked with the Browns and nobody would pick him until the Patriots do with the 199th, and then everything becomes right again in the world.

I think I got B-movie in the works.

greatest steal? are we forgetting that the jets managed to sneak Veron mother loving Gholtson onto their roster with the 6th pick?

TB would have been the biggest steal if he was a 3rd round pick if we are talking modern day. Montana was a 3rd but Rice, Taylor, Brown were all 1st rounders. Staubach was a 10th rounder though.

Yeah, but they had like 3 teams in the NFL back then. Ok, I'm exaggerating. They had 4 teams.

I think I'm partial to the trade of two first round picks for the opportunity to draft Dewayne "Baby Sapp" Robertson.

Who it turns out had a chronic bad knee - and being the Jets they knew about it and drafted him anyway, passing up a chance to get Troy Polamalu. LOL.

That was a steal but it wasn't the team doing the stealing...

If you assume some sort of infinite loop of draft-career-reset, then Brady will be drafted an infinite number of times, and virtually every permutation will come to pass . . . and in every single one of them, the JEST suck.

? ? ? ? is ? ? ? ??

Can you tell the Chinese are in country today?

What an original idea for a thread.

What? We haven't had a new ''ave Bradia'' tread in at least 6 whole hours, there's only so far people can be expected to go.

Apparently, he was drafted much lower than one might expect for such a great quarterback. Somebody should make a TV show about that.
