OT: Romo retiring. Going into broadcasting.

I really didn't think Simms was that bad honestly, aside from when he went over the top on Peyton. People love to hate commentators and will hate Romo too.

IMHO, there is much separation between those top 5-7.

Tier 1: Best of all Time, Tom Brady and it isn't close.
Tier 2: Slam dunk first ballot Hall of Famers: Peyton and Rodgers
Tier 3: Very likely to make the Hall of Fame: Big Ben and Brees
Tier 4: Franchise starting quarterbacks: Romo, Rivers, McNabb,.....
Just curious, why do you think neither of the tier 3 guys are slam dunks, even if not first ballot like the tier 2 players?

I think Brees is better than Peyton to be honest.

Only bad thing about this is this Twitter account is no longer necessary.

Broncos are going to suck again this year. I'd like to say the same about the Texans, but they made the playoffs with Brock (can't get any worse at QB) last season and they play in a **** division.

Simms wasn't the best broadcaster but seems like a good guy...and always favors the Patriots, probably because of his Belichick connection. Blame CBS for putting him in the #1 slot.

Also, his son is a douche.

Agree with you above on Simms....

As for his son.....INDUSTRIAL SIZE!

I hear you, and though I wouldn't put Brees ahead of Manning on my list, I'd definitely have him in the category of HOF lock.

Guy'll be 37 when the season starts, has played 14 seasons, has had massive problems with his health ... and people are calling him a quitter for not trying to play for a new team for a year.

Who's calling him a quitter? He has no choice at this point because the Cowboys won't release him.

Both are hothouse petunia dome qbs who benefited by playing on fast track 72 degree fields. I'm not impressed by the Arena FB QBs as much as I am by the Bradys,Rodgers/Roethlisbergers, etc.

It is arguable of course, but I simply think that Peyton and Rodgers are a clear step above the others. The case for Peyton, for all of his post-season hiccups (that is why he is in Tier 2) is the leader in passing yards, touchdown passes, AP MVP awards, the numbers speak for themselves. Putting Rodgers in the same tier is just my opinion, I think he has done more with less at Green Bay than anyone else except for the great Tom Brady. I am just continually amazed at how Rodgers can make the impossible happen, and make lemonade out of lemons. I think if Rodgers had the type of surrounding team that Peyton had most of his career, I think would have achieved just as much as Peyton (and likely been better in the post season). I used the same "done more with less" argument for why I thought Big Ben is above Brees.

However, that is just my opinion or take, and I welcome other opinions. I am not one of those Patsfans posters that think that people that disagree with me are idiots or mentally incompetent because they can't see my "obviously superior point of view" (sarcasm intended). :D

Is Simms retiring? Kind of odd that someone with no experience would move directly to the top pairing (even if everyone here hates him).

A mute robot is better than Simms

That's sports broadcasting for you. Names over talent. For all we know, Tony Romo is going to be like Joe Montana in the booth, yet with no experience he becomes the #1 guy.

Granted, color guys do their best work very early on in their career while they still have relevant game experience and insight; as the years go on, they add less and less and fall back onto clichés. Look at Jerry Remy and heck, even Tim McCarver was actually a decent baseball color guy in the 1980s.

Put Romo on the #2 or #3 team for a year, see how he does. If he does as well as expected, move him to the #1 team in year two. But that's not how sports broadcasting works.

Even if he doesn't say a word on the telecast he is already better than Simms

just that low humming sound of his processor fans working over the sound of football on the field.

Mute Robot better get some consideration for the superbowl next year.

I was just curious. There were no other motives and I thank you for taking the time to explain. I've been ignored before, maybe because the poster thought I was being "that" way. I was simply interested in reading your viewpoint.

I hear you, man. Nonetheless, they have both done enough to be locks based on what I think the criteria is to voters. I, too, am far more impressed with the guys who do it yearly in the elements.
