He is pretty good, and he would definitely be an upgrade over Blount, any cap room to be able to sign the guy?

The team has plenty of cap space to bring in whoever they want.

I see Murray being much more versatile than Blount, the only problem now is the price.
A team of Murray, Lewis, White would be kick ass.

How would Murray be an upgrade over Blount?

Murray is a younger Blount. He has about the same YPC average with a better offensive line. He wouldn't be an upgrade at all.

I on the other hand see Blount slowing down next year, he just doesn't have the same speed as he once had, sure he lead the NFL in rushing touchdowns, but most of them were because of the o-line, if any of you watched the raiders, Murray is explosive, something Blount lacks at this stage in his career, also I don't see Blount carrying this offense, Brady is getting older and he needs a solid back that is able to make plays to take off some of he pressure.

Meh, I see Burkhead being a replacement for Bolden, and a special teamer, I really don't see him being part of our offense much.
Did you read the Burkhead thread?
There are some very useful, and informative links posted in it.
One from traderumors.com that said something like "some feel he is the best RB in this FA class"

Regardless of our eval of Murray's abilities, I'm guessing he's probably now looking for something approaching Lacy's deal with Seattle - maybe something in the $3M-$5M APY range. I seriously doubt that BB would go there.

You fellas might wanna wait on the contract details of newly signed Rex Burkhead before clamoring for Latavius Murray...Just saying
My guess is that it comes in at around $1.1M for 1-2 years with +/- $200k guaranteed.

I would prefer Mike Gillislee from Buf 5 rd tender. Led league in yds after contact, had 5+ YPC, remember him doing well against the Pats last year
I, too, have always been intrigued by him. He's a bigger back who can also catch well.

I vaguely remember some issue with him, though. I can't remember if it was PED's, locker room or off-field though. Nonetheless, he's an intriguing player.

I'm guessing closer to 3M...Maybe a little more.
I'd honestly be shocked if it's anything much above $1.5M -$2M APY, even if BB considers him to be a Blount replacement rather than a Bolden replacement.

[EDIT: The $1.1M figure I used in my previous post referred to APY, not total contract value. I should have been clearer about that.]

As of yesterday, Oakland has committed $800k in guaranteed contracts in this Free Agency....31st in spending
Given Oakland's success last year and considerable cap space...$39 mill...I'm surprised their front office has been so restrained. I guess a Carr contract extension is their priority....or paying for a new stadium

Murray is very overrated

He was behind a great O-line in Oakland, but he only had 4.0 yards per carry, way less than Washington (5.4) and Richards (5.9).

Actually, at the end of the season, Murray was part of a committee and falling in snaps with every game.

If he comes cheap, sure. Bur i honestly prefer Blount back, and I'm far from being Blount's biggest enthusiast

The patriots have not paid a RB 2 mill or more for a season since Fred Taylor. Although there is certainly inflation in the cap but I'd be surprised if burkhead breaks that trend and becomes our highest paid RB in 8 years.

It is amazing how little NE spends at RB.
They pay OL multiples to block for the RBs. They pay DL and LBs multiples to tackle RBs ...yet RBs themselves are a disposable commodity.
One of the great advantages of having a quality QB verses teams that overcompensate at RB to supplement crappy QB play. Brady allows BB to exploit the leagues greatest salary anomaly ....RB
Funny how the Steelers ignore Belichick Economics.....maxing out at QB, WR, RB.

If we put together all the years Blount played in NE and look at it from a broader spectrum we will realize last year was the exception, not the rule, he played way beyond his average play in previous years so it's worth questioning if he's going to repeat that performance, one year older in RB years.

That said, the fumble on the SB, it was not very characteristic of him, he is not a liability in ball security and it was a heck of a play by the Falcons player. Then the TV footage closed on him on the sidelines and he was very sad, like disappointed, not pissed throwing the helmet on the ground, and I felt so sorry for the guy at that moment instead of being pissed, I knew it was going to be a 14 point swing, but nonetheless I think I never saw a player so sad like that on the sidelines, I could feel he was sad for disappointing coach Bill and his teammates and for failing on the biggest stage. He didn't do a lot on the SB after that, he made a few plays later on second half but couldn't score a TD.

LG has been a true Patriot in my eyes, he totally bought into the program, he likes to be here, is a big fan of TB12, a good teammate and wants to stay so I would give the guy another shot to be a piece of a RBBC system, but we could benefit from an upgrade for sure.
