Patriots sign Rex Burkhead

I don't think anything was promised to Burkhead about his role here. He is here to play a prominent role on special teams where he excelled in Cinci, and to COMPETE for snaps with the rest of the team's RB's. And that will be a TON of competition with Lewis, White, Foster, and whoever else the Pats bring in through FA or the draft....including LGB.

The bottom line in this is whoever survives this competition and carves out snaps, will be good and the RB corps will be deep. Even with all the WR talent, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats make a concerted effort to run the ball more next season, especially early in the year.

After the Danny Woodhead fiasco the Rats should have been all over a guy like Burkhead, but I haven't heard that he visited them.

Yet they reportedly offered 3 million more to HT than the Pats.

Same old Rats, still haven't learned a thing about building a winning roster.

That's more yards rushing than we've had against the Ravens in 5 years - cumulative.

The caveat is that it was week 17 between two teams that had already been eliminated, so I'm not sure how the game was played.

Some weird stuff happens in week 17, like drop kicks and (groan) losing to the Dolphins in 2015 because we insist on plowing Stephen Jackson into the line off tackle over and over again. Did anybody see that game?

While I do get the Woodhead comparison, Burkhead is bigger. He's got 2 inches and 15 pounds on Woodhead. He's not a big RB, but he's not small either.

Shifty, white, can line up as a RB or WR pretty effectively. His last name is four letters followed by 'head'. I wouldn't look a whole lot further than that.
