With the addition of Cooks, I can't see how the Pats keep Amendola at all. They have Edelman, Cooks, Mitchell, and Hogan ahead of him. Not to mention Gronkowski, Allen, White, and Lewis.

I can't see the Pats keeping Amendola when they can free up 6.4M by cutting him outright..

And yes.. I don't care for this deal because I feel the Pats gave up too much and I feel that having Cooks will cut into Mitchell's development since they have Hogan as well.

Amendola has been major clutch in our last two Super Bowl Championships. If indeed he is not back on a cheap contract as insurance then I will indeed miss him. Having said that if he agrees to come back on the cheap to chase a third ring as a #5/ injury insurance WR I will be quite happy! If not thanks indeed!

If Dola comes back for a 2.5M deal I keep him. He is happy to take pay cuts to be here and if that continues I think his injury insurance and returning can be valuable.

That being said they can cut him and not regret it. No one thought he would pay for 7.7M That was never going to happen.

The future of this team on offense (assuming they sign cooks long term) is Mitchell, Cooks, Hogan. I think they will let Mitchell see plenty of looks. We will see Edelman take more plays off as he is getting older and save him for the playoffs. Hopefully Gronk gets the same treatment particularly vs bad teams. They probably limit Lewis too. Though I think it is unlikely Dola sees the field on O much if they keep him I think there will be plenty of chances for Mitchell if they stagger their stars.

Dola has balls the size of cantaloupes. If you're right, then it happens very soon because BB will not leave him hanging. Obviously Michael Floyd's time as a Patriot has come to an end. I think Gronk blocks more often depending on the flow of the game.

Was it you who hacked Jimmy G's Instagram?

Way too early for this. Also I think you're wrong about his contract.

I don't understand. Many teams, including the Patriots most years, carry five wide receivers. I am not sure why their tight ends and running backs would have anything to do with Amendola. As you said in your post, the Patriots have Edelman, Cooks, Mitchell, and Hogan (plus Slater, but he isn't a real WR.). Amendola would be the fifth wide receiver, but more importantly he is a huge insurance policy if Edelman gets hurt, as Edelman's role is critical to the offensives scheme.

How am I wrong about his contract? It's straight from @Miguel's page.

Cutting him saves $6.4M. Don't like the numbers? Take it up with Miguel..

Because you don't pay your #5 WR $6M to sit on the bench. You don't pay him $2.5M to sit on the bench. You pay a rookie a few hundred K to sit on the bench and learn and develop..

Cooks and Hogan are both insurance policies for Edelman.

Awful last part of your Post. Glad you don't work in the Patriots front office. Stop crying and enjoy an incredible offense the patriots will field in 2017-18

Cart before horse

Only if you can't be bothered to look at reality. Reality is that the Pats aren't going to pay a 5th receiver the kind of money that Amendola would require.. Being it 2.5M or $6M.

I don't want to see Danny go...just so clutch for us...I think the player that doesn't come back now is Floyd

I know but When you see just how fast explosive talented and TOUGH cooks is, you will forget about amendola quickly. Cooks may appear finesse, but he is extremely capable of making tough catches in traffic. You can line him up in the slot too.

With that said, amendola was a highly clutch influential team player and I wish him the best luck going forward as he nears retirement

Patriots run a lot of guys through their offense and their game plan changes from week to week. I don't see Amendola as a bench warmer. He's a guy who, when asked to, can do a lot of great things and is the most reliable player I've ever seen with the game on the line along with Troy Brown.

If you think Cooks and Hogan are insurance policies for Edelman, you clearly don't understand the different positions and routes in the offense. Amendola is very similar to Edelman, as he can run a variety of routes and is especially good in the middle of the field, short to medium range.

Yeah... Cooks is an insurance policy for Edelman. Sure. Because they have so many similar skills as wideouts. I guess that would make sense if you have severe brain damage.

Dude.

4 and 3 in the SB. Danny Amendola. 13 yards.
4th qtr drive with a minute left: Danny Amendola. 23 yards to get them to the 20.
Score 26-28 and need a 2 pt conversion: Danny Amendola. Gets it.

He does it all year long.

Clutch as ****. They trust the hell out of DA.

You call him a #5 but he is either number 1 or 2 in the "I need a F'ing clutch catch" category.

He is more valuable than Floyd. Floyd is gone.

Yes they will ask him to restructure his contract but he is not a JAG that we can simply dismiss as a number 5.
