Yeah you can see definite similarities in his route running and, specifically in the post routes. He looks exactly like Smith in his prime, only faster...Steve Smith Sr., circa 2004

Chris
Good post, Ken -- my thoughts exactly. This was a BIG price to pay for a luxury that wasn't needed. I don't quite understand it. You have to think a good linebacker, DE tweener, corner or running back prospect would be available at 32. And also because of this we probably never will see what Floyd could've done here.
Goodie....that's what? 5 more years of f*****g misery??
I ask again..what did Jet fans do to deserve this??
He could still contribute in the return game until Cyrus the Virus can prove that he's anything but unreliable there. At this point I have no idea how Amendola sees the field on offense. Gronk, Edelman, Cooks will not leave the field if they are healthy and not resting. Hogan Mitchell are clearly better options. Also you need to feed White/Lewis and your back up TE Allen.
Amendola IMO is 8th guy on the chart. I am happy to have him here in case of injury but cause he will cost nothing most likely but I don't see how he gets looks.
Also frankly I don't see a reason to ever run. It seems to me you run only to rest your weapons.

Yeah, but, Brandon Cooks rumors have been swirling for like a week (for example, on 3/5, PFT ran an article saying "Saints turn down 32nd overall pick for Cooks"). Their first mention of Cooks was yesterday (3/9). It doesn't really sound like they "scooped" anything, it just sounds like the regurgitated other rumors that were floating around.

no days offThis is the best offseason ever.
I'm not "lamenting" that at all. I'm just questioning the high price paid for what was not an obvious area of need. But I can see why all the Madden/fantasy dweebs are going bonkers over it.Because as smart football persons realize in today's NFL, if you can have man beaters at near every position plus an elite QB you are much better of. Cooks, Gronk, Edeleman plus what Mitchell is turning into and who do you double? Does Brady get picked in the SB if it's Cooks running a route versus Amendola? Too much respect is needed for Cooks to jump that route.
It so short sighted. It isn't about "taking the top off the defense". It's about putting as much stress on the secondary that it easily cracks and collapses.
Also, if you are lamenting never seeing what Floyd could do here over Cooks, then there really isn't much left to say.
