Patriots trade for WR Brandin Cooks (NO BUTLER INVOLVED). Gave up 1st & 3rd rounder for Cooks + 4th

If that were the case he would have signed someone like Brandon Marshall. What BB is doing is taking an old receiving core and giving Mitchell some young company to take the Pats into the next decade. Cook can ball. Butler couldn't cover him all summer.
I wouldn't bet, right now, that we are keeping him after 2 years.

I think this is the true alternative: BB is going all in. He knows Brady's window is closing and might as well give him every chance we can (albeit costing some future, FOR NOW).

Best receiving corps (including TE/RB) and one of the best secondaries in the NFL. I'll take it.
That means Amendola gone and probably no Floyd. And our binky Mack Hollins?

You guys made out really well in this deal. I loved having Cooks with us, but I'm glad he's going to BB and Brady's offense. He's going to be a star in that offense. I would have liked to have gotten Butler in this trade, that's for sure. We need that star CB to strengthen our D. Oh well. Looking forward to watching Cooks with you guys. Hopefully we make use of that #32 pick.

Thanks - I like what I've seen of Cook on TV. I know he can fly but question...does he have any JE in him? Can he go over the middle, get crushed, hang on to the ball, and come up laughing? Curious about his durability and toughness.

Ironically, I've kind of taken this year off a bit. Feel sorry for @I.M. Fletcher and @reamer who have done amazing work. Still, short of a Jimmy G trade, we have two late day two picks and five on day three.

I will take a team like this every day of the week over any draft.

Plus, let's wait til Monday for the other shoe to drop. I don't think our first pick will be in the 3rd round.

I wouldn't celebrate just yet, seems like there will be a lot more dominoes to fall before the free agency period is over.
It was a joke.

Shoulda put a

Heh, but doesn't Brady not drink (alcohol) based on recent reports about his lifestyle/health regimen?

Tonight might be an exception.

It is a steep price and there's always the worry if receivers can pick up this offense. But good god, is he fast. Looks like he's flying out there. What's his 40 time?

Looks like a young Desean Jackson.

WOW! If we can keep hifhtower this team is STACKED... 2007 like expectations in that scenario

Too early to figure all that out. I know this, Dola and JE even Hoges are getting up there in receiver years and this instantly makes the core younger. And BB is all about that.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a trade in the works for Garoppolo. Belichick is not going to go into the draft picking first at #72.
