Very good slot corner. One of the best tackling and run support corners in the league. I think the latter gets overlooked.

I feel like this year he and the team finally figured it out, and he played his best and was a big reason we shut down those great WRs in the postseason. He took a lot of grief from this board in the years prior to that but redeemed himself in 2016.

That said I don't think it made sense for the Pats to give him 10m. Our CB situation is complicated enough. Would love to keep Butler in house one more year and start grooming his successor because I doubt he comes back in 2018 if he isn't traded before then.

The question is if they don't keep Butler do they go with Cyrus/draft pick or sign someone to be the 3rd CB?

Keep the pipeline pumping at CB, but after a year to develop and all his physical skills I'd be surprised if Cyrus Jones isn't at least going into the year as the inside corner.

Great player to have on the inside on a rookie deal, by all accounts an amazing fit for Patriots in terms of prep work and general focus like most of the Schiano Rutgers players are. I don't think there are many players in this league that study their own and the opponents tape as tenaciously as he does.

Deserves to cash in for all the work.
