Courtesy of Comcast NE is this gem:

“Oh man, Jimmy is really good. Lot of times, you can’t tell the difference (between Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Brady).” -Malcolm Butler

Now that's highly disrespectful to Tom. I doubt MB would do that unless he was told to.

If it wasn't directed from above...Malcolm....

Malcolm plays on the other side of the football. His only expertise with either one is watching them from the sidelines. Just saying, obviously I respect the hell out of butler, but he is not really in a position to make an authoritative statement here. the most he can talk about is comparing the sideline attitudes of the two

If he's talking about how the two quarterbacks approach the game from the sidelines, the mental preparation both go through with the coach and the team on the sidelines being indistinguishable... that's pretty damn exciting for Jimmy G fans, because Brady's legend is made in those situations.

BB said almost the same exact thing this season.

Let's not forget, the two best halves of football Patriots fans watched all year for the offense were week 2 against Miami and the second half of the super bowl.

JimmyG might actually, you know, be really really good.

It's obvious the off-season is in full bloom... Gonna be a long 5 months 'til training camp...

There's a difference between good and Brady. I doubt Jimmy fires that pass like TB did to Edelman in overtime.

I have a hard time believing there isn't a stark difference between the 2.

???

100+ practices each year against both for the past three years...i think he's in as good a position as anyone to make a statement about that.
.

Well I can see where I made a mistake but I'm still not entirely sure I agree. I'll admit I'm grasping at straws here, but a comp betweeh Jimmy G and Brady falls a bit short when we only seem to see the best of Brady under the bright lights, usually close and late.

Right now there should be, Brady is still at his peak obviously. Jimmy still has 5 more years before he is in his prime. Unless he is like Brady and literally devotes every move in life in regards to football. If he does that Jimmy will be in his prime when he is 37+ lol..

Brady is a freak, if everything we hear is true about Brady then.. I have a feeling not alot of people would follow in his foot steps. He takes the word dedication and takes it to another level.

Your goals in life as an NFL QB to win games and to make alot of money. Brady hasn't just done that he has surpassed every other QB's career and he wants to play 5 or 6 more years. And according to the Peter King interview, if he still feels good at 45 he will keep on playing.

I just hope Giselle is ok with him at 42+ playing football.

I would actually be surprised if it was a stark difference between the two at this point.

And yes, of course there is a difference between really really good and Brady, but how much different in practice? Their playing styles and strengths are very similar, so why is it crazy that coaches and players on the team keep saying the same thing?

The comment rings true, and speaks to why the issue of trading or keeping Jimmy G is so widely discussed here. I'm on the trade side... but... IMHO... he's gonna be good.

here s the thing for me. Belichick rarely will trade away a player with unique talent...if he thinks Garoppolo in 2 -3 years is better than brady and is the next aaron rodgers, no way he lets him go and trades him away. Jimmy could be really good...or we could be over-reacting to one game and 2 quarters of football.

Nick foles looked rediculous his first season when he came out and had 27tds - 2 interceptions now hes not even on a team.

just my opinion. I dont think BB would let this kid go if he thinks hes the real deal.

As much as I've already disgraced myself once in this thread, I can't help but feel that that's a false dichotomy.

JAG modeled his game after Brady, and he's got a quick release. So, it's not surprising that he'll sometimes look like Brady. Take him off his first read though, and he looks more like

than

Definitely worth a 1st, a 2nd, and a future 1st NFL GMs.

I think the only other QBs with 2+ rings is Ben, Eli and Brady. Jimmy G could retire today and have as many rings as Manning with a perfect 2-0 regular season record LOL
That's a real fair point about Jimmy G though. Having been brought up in the Patriot Way, he may be seen by some GM's as just the sort of player they need to jumpstart a young team and help instill the discipline and self-confidence that characterize the New England Patriots.

I'm so torn on the Jimmy G question, he seems like such a good prospective starter, and I and I want to keep him, but the GOAT is going nowhere.

U guys this is BB written all over it.
They're buttering him up mannnn
Can't wait to see what we get for him
