2 zoos had a bet that if their local team lost they would have to name a baby animal after a selected player. Atlanta lost so they had to name an animal "Tom Brady" and instead of going with the spirit of the bet they picked a Madagascar hissing ****roach.

Personally I expect it to be the greatest ****roach of all time. Maybe its hissing sound will help remind Atlanta fans of their massive choke on a daily basis. The roach apparently is very excited for next season and looking forward to have a Julian Edelman roach friend.

Atlanta zoo names a ****roach 'Tom Brady' after losing Super Bowl bet

Actually it's fitting....since the ****roach will outlast all of us. They are the ultimate survivors and will be here after nuclear war has taken out everyone else. So appropriate for being named Brady as they have a history of comebacks when everyone else fails.

I think they thought they were being funny, but I found this to be a **** move. Not that Brady cares, but as you say, the spirit of the bet implies something a little better than a ****roach. I feel like they are welching on a bet made in good faith.

Ironic as Atlanta is tied with Cleveland as the ****roach of professional sports.

Falcons - never won a SB.
Hawks - never won the NBA.
Braves - won WS once.

That's one, for those of you who aren't counting. Same as Cleveland's one NBA championship since the Browns won in 1964.

In hissing roaches, the hiss takes three forms: the disturbance hiss, the female-attracting hiss, and the aggressive fighting hiss.

Just sayin'.

I'm pretty sure I read that both zoos agreed to name a ****roach if they lost.

thats fine. you kow what they say..only a roach will survive anything and everything. im sure thats what they were feeling when the GOAT came back down 25 in the SB.

****roaches dont live for over a year maybe two, they just survive anything.

I guess they don't have any cheetahs at the zoo otherwise you know they would have named one Brady.

Oh there is absolutely no question that's what they would have done if they had one. Would have gotten a lot of yuks and attention.

Since folks already had their fun with this topic, the bet actually stipulated that it would be a ****roach - something about both zoos knowing that some locals would end up bitter, and this way the rabble could have a nice way to vent.
