If people here can pray for one of our soccer team Chapecoense. The plane crashed today 76 people died(could be less). They are a small team, everybody here was roting for them, full of young guys. One player was rescued alive just now after they declared all dead, so there is hope and if you guys can help praying i will appreciate. Thank you

The doctor may have found an answer. I am suffering from what looks like autonomic dysfunction that was triggered by my surgery in early June. My heart rate is elevated and increases drastically (20-40 beats) when I stand. My heart is otherwise fine based off other tests.

She thinks it resembles POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). I was told women have a more difficult time with it (I'm a male) and patients do recover with time. Also, there is trial and error involved with medication. The beta blocker I was on two weeks ago made me feel worse so I stopped using it.

Honestly, part of me felt relief that this situation wasn't all in my head. Some stuff makes more sense with this news such as why sunny days feel brighter and more intense to me (light sensitivity). The symptoms seemed too physical to me to just be anxiety. I'm glad I decided to look into it more.

Some days I feel close to 80-90% back to normal. Some days suck. Luckily I am ahead in school as a senior so I am only taking 12 credits this semester. I am keeping a daily journal to track patterns and improvements.

Thank you all for prayers and wondering how I am doing. I appreciate it. Also, anyone know a friend/relative that has or had this condition?

I'm not a doctor, but it seems to me those symptoms could be a LOT of different things... and assuming you had some type of cardiovascular surgery (I assume with the beta blockers?) while it's understandable your Docs would think it's related, be mindful that it could be something unrelated too

I myself was having some very odd nervous system problems - mainly manifesting in sciatic and forearm pain - I've never experienced carpal tunnel or any sciatic/back/nerve problems before and I now have a huge amount of sympathy for anyone who does as my pain was occasionally intense

With last year being very warm, I encountered someone with a very late season case of Lyme Disease. Their symptoms were very different from mine but I do know that Lyme can wreck havoc with the autonomic and nervous system, not to mention joints etc. I figured I had nothing else to lose, told my Doc I'd been bitten (I live in the woods - I'm sure I'm bitten often and have the Lyme anti-bodies no matter what) and he agreed to do a blood test and the anti-bodies that came back were off the charts!

That actually means nothing as noted - as if you've had Lyme before you probably would test positive. But that gave him the justification to put me on a basic anti-biotic.

Whether it was psychosomatic (and btw don't rule out "depression" as the other poster said, as it's to be expected you ARE depressed post surgery - and those symptoms manifest physically all the time) or truly Lyme that the antibiotics took care of, I have no idea...

But the pain and overall nervous system and other symptoms dissipated almost immediately and they have never returned again!

No telling if that's your issue but the way I figure it, when one can't quite nail down a cause, Lyme is something worth ruling out if you're in the New England region - and with any luck as simple to address as a simple antibiotic!

It is still a struggle a good deal of the time. I may not want to die, but it is hard at times to feel very enthusiastic about life. But, it just keeps getting better.

Finally, most of you know and appreciate the work Ian Logue puts into this board. However, you may not know what an absolutely incredible man he is. We celebrate athletes and other celebrities, but if our society really had its sh-t together it would be MEN such as Ian who are celebrated. Support him and his Patsfans.com. It's a wonderful little community that's every bit as special as the football franchise we so dearly love.

I, too, read the more recent things and found myself joyous that many are still finding hope in one another. It's a reminder that people still do care for one another in this mostly narcissistic, self- serving world in which we live.

It will be two years to the day I posted this thread in a few months. Can you believe that?! I'm still here. Have things been easy? Hell no. But I'm still here. I'm fighting still. Depression for me today is not nearly what it was two years ago when I wanted to kill myself. I'm better now. And I did it without taking a single prescription drug. I did it with you all. I did it with Ian. I did it with Mom. Thank you all so very much for me, for Kenneth, for Patsinthesnow and all the other family finding inspiration in this thread. I love you all for being incredible and understanding. Thanks for lifting me up. Thanks for lifting each other up.

I'm in Keene, NH with my wife's family after her father died late last week. He was an ardent Pats fan; the only thing he was alert about in the past couple of months was the Pats. It was like he became a Pats savant; he was up to date on the scores, injuries, stats, playoffs, commentator opinions, etc. Everything else in life, he pretty much gave up on. It is as if he focused all of his neurological capacity onto the part of his brain that was dedicated to the Pats.

Ironically, my mother in law hates football, and despises Belichick. So she's lost her life partner, but gained freedom from the Patriots.

Except Sunday, when I'll be watching the game in her living room.

My wife is a mess, and there are grandchildren to be taken care of, so most everything else has come to a standstill. But it is, as they say, as it should be. "Grief is the price we pay for love."

I've followed this thread. I have had difficult times, but the kind words I read in this thread, though not directed to me, have given me the confidence that in society there are solid, decent people. And there is comfort in knowing that even strangers cared enough to try and reach out to community members.

Ian does not get enough thanks & kudos. We recognize him from time to time in various threads - mostly those that contain his info about some update to the site. But graphics & features pale when compared to the sense of belonging this site can provide.

I have been in tears reading this thread. It has meant so much to me this past month. It's been real rough for me, but I never thought a thread on an internet forum would impact me as much as thia thread has.

It seems as though life always pulls you in certain directions and situations that you may not be ready for. Even though this time has been trying for me, this team and this forum have been my saving gracr.
