Pats / Raiders TV reschedule? Why not?

If the Pat's lose, what is stopping the Broncos from playing a lame game to stick it to the Pats. They would love to do so.

You've got to be kidding me. The GM, coaching staff, players - none of these people benefit in any way from throwing a game. The idea of tanking by players and coaches is a myth. They have too much at stake to risk their financial future on sticking it to a rival.

This tanking hypothesis also ignores the intensity of the Raiders-Broncos rivalry, even though it has been one-sided for a decade. They would love to stick it to the Raiders, probably moreso than to the Patriots.

Yeah I know all about it. Jets are on CBS & Giants are on Fox here in NY. Your missing my point, I'm talking about putting on a double header especially when these games are important for playoff seeding implications. If Jets are playing at 1 pm on CBS then put Pats on Fox At 1 pm.

They put Giants on FOX at 4pm AND Cowboys/Eagles on CBS at 4pm here. Cowboys/Eagles?! Cowboys clinched and Eagles are in last place. Its BS! goodell* pumping JJones and Pats gettin dissed. It'sa S'Bag move.
Gimme a break. What do you want? The Patriots game to be shown to the whole country?? Just move everybody to CBS except Mia-NE on Fox so everyone in the whole country can watch them?

As others have pointed out, Broncos-Raiders are kind of like Patriots-Jets. Think the Pats would throw a game to the Jets to give them home field instead of the Donkeys?

Not sure how Denver will respond on Sunday, honestly. They've got a bunch of high-income defenders there who I expect would like to make chopped liver out of Tug McGroin, or whatever his name is.

I can't believe players like Talib and Miller would be okay with getting swept by the Raiders, and I can guarantee that Elway would have a fit.

Only Irsay's Colts are so pathetic that they tank on purpose.

(j/k... a little)

I still don't think it was an accident to have the Broncos playing in the afternoon after the Pats. When the season started it was quite plausible that these teams would be battling for placement, and knowing the result of the other team's last game, could have chosen to rest starters.

On this schedule, where seeding between them would not be decided until week 17, only the Broncos would have had the benefit of resting players. Of course, the NFL also made it more lilely the Pats couldn't rest starters in week 17 by making them play in the morning, regardless of who they were still jockeying with at the end of the year.

Give You a Break! Move what, what are you talkin about?!

Ok ONE MORE TIME and thats it! I'll say it nice & s l o o o w for you, In English, ready. ok.....

Jets are playing on CBS at 1 pm ( nfl*Contractual Market here in NY)
There is NO GAME ON at 1 pm on FOX Network.........with me so far?

Giants are playing at 4 pm on FOX (nfl* Contractual Market here in NY)
BUT THEY PUT COWBOYS/EAGLES GAME ON CBS at 4 pm.
(Cowboys clinched and Eagles are in last place, must watch game right?)

NOW AGAIN, WITHOUT MOVING ANYTHING, You got this so far right???

Why not put Pats/Phins game on that open slot at 1 pm on FOX as a double header when it CLEARLY is an important game with playoff seeding implications?!

Unless your a relative of goodell*, or a TV Program Director or a Pats Troll........
then why is it a problem for you to have Pats play on National TV for ALL Pat's Fans to see especially if its effects us that are out of town WITHOUT MOVING ANYTHING ON AN OPEN SLOT?!

I'm done! If you don't understand by now, wait for my movie to come out.
Happy New Year, Cheers!

take care of business in Miami, nothing anyone else does matters

I think bc....the Pats is playing for a#1 thats why its at...1

Add to that they just got humiliated by KC the week before by some trick pass TD from a defensive lineman and a loss is the difference between a winning season or a .500 finish after a Super Bowl win.

These guys could care less what happens with the Pats and where they stand in playoff order. Their season ends with this game, and anyone watching the end of the KC game last week could see the Denver defense was pissed off. I expect the new Raiders QB will experience that first hand this week while kicking off 4 years of rust.

You have to admit, their dilemma is pretty delicious. They either win and hand their rival Pats the #1 seed or they lose to their hated rival Raiders. Sucks to suck.

Agreed.

However, I have been distracted by the sounds of silence following the din of media chants of "Elway is a personnel genius" during the first four games of the season. The current drone appears to be that the Broncos have lost their grip on the AFC West for the indefinite future and will require major work over the next several years to become contenders for a division crown.

Aren't there very specific rules that have to be followed to flex a game to Fox, the NFC affiliated network? I can't imagine that the Boston-based CBS affiliate would be happy with this game getting flexed to Fox so that the New York area can see it.

506 Sports shows NYC is getting Dal-Phi at 1:00 on Fox - a game which you ignorantly think is being played at 4:25.
Giants are playing at 4 pm on FOX (nfl* Contractual Market here in NY)

No, I don't "got this so far" because you don't have the first clue what you are talking about. I'll type slowly so that you have a slim chance of understanding:

1) First of all, YOU CAN TYPE IN CAPITAL LETTERS BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU RIGHT. THE DAL-PHI GAME IS AT 1:00 ON FOX, NOT 4:00 ON CBS LIKE YOU IGNORANTLY THINK.
Why not put Pats/Phins game on that open slot at 1 pm on FOX as a double header when it CLEARLY is an important game with playoff seeding implications?!
2) BECAUSE IT IS A CBS GAME AND NOT A FOX GAME AND THE NFL CANNOT TAKE AN AFC GAME AWAY FROM CBS WHEN THEY ARE SHOWING IT TO MOST OF THE NATION.

CBS controls the game and they're sending it to most of the nation. The NFL isn't going to shift it to Fox just to satisfy the residents of the metropolitan areas who happen to have local AFC teams playing at the same time.

All your solution does is shift who gets screwed. If they move the game to Fox, you take it away from Dallas, Chicago, Minnesota, TB and Carolina. There are 15 games being squeezed into 2 time slots. You can't satisfy everyone.
Unless your a relative of goodell*, or a TV Program Director or a Pats Troll........

I am trying to explain to you how it works, but not only do you not understand how things work, you don't even have the first clue what the scheduling says and what the facts are.

Learn the facts of the situation then maybe we can continue our discussion.

This this this times 100.

There are very specific rules for flexing a game from CBS to Fox (or vice versa). Firstly, I don't even think it is permitted on week 17 because this is the one week where both networks have doubleheaders. Secondly, it has to be a game that the team's "home" network wasn't planning on showing to most of the nation.

CBS would scream bloody murder if the league shifted one of the day's marquee AFC games to Fox. Plus, DBP14 doesn't realize that his solution solves absolutely nothing, it just shifts who loses the Patriots game.

Also, even though it is a meaningless game, there is still a lot of interest in Dal-Phi. Elliott going for the record, Romo taking some snaps and the Dallas is generally a big draw. You'd have a LOT of people REALLY PISSED if they lost that game in favor of NE-Mia. Much of the nation gets both those games so it makes ZERO sense whatsoever to put them both on Fox with nothing but clunkers on CBS.

DBP14's "solution" is to screw over 90% of the country so he can watch the Patriots.

Correct me if I'm wrong at any point here, I don't take a look at these situations much.

Pats play vs Miami 1:00 PM EST

Oakland plays vs Broncos 4:25 PM EST

Why not move the Pats game up to 4:24 PM EST

If the Pat's lose, what is stopping the Broncos from playing a lame game to stick it to the Pats. They would love to do so.

In the past, the NFL has rescheduled games so that they play at the same time, so both teams cannot sit players, or not play a hard game because everything has been decided already. Is seeding for Oakland a factor?

I forget when, but recently, the last year or two, the patriots, and maybe Denver were rescheduled so that that this could not take place. They wanted both teams playing hard. What's the difference here?

Am I misunderstanding the situation, or does the NFL going after the Pats again?
Pats need to just win this game, play it like a playoff game. They need to be ready, and losing this game to a play off team should not be an option.

I know all about who gets pissed off with flexing this game on CBS and that game on FOX and which network gets screwed etc etc etc Its all dollars and nonsense and fans get screwed over. I'm saying for us fans, put games on its an open slot if possible.

I'm not saying flexing or shifting just adding a game on another network open slot make it a doubleheader:

1 PM Jets on CBS (Contractual in NY)...........Pats on FOX
4 PM Giants on FOX (Contactual in NY)) ......Cowboys on CBS (Scheduled here in NY)

Another douchable move by goodell* not to put Pats on doubleheader here in NY. Not that its an important game or anything with any kind of seeding implications. I'll wait for SB for Prime Time when Pats/Brady get number 5 for middle finger and TB's MVP Trophy.

Sorry to break it to you, but it's actually just against NFL TV policy to run doubleheaders on the same channel as the local game.

Both networks have the doubleheader this weekend. There are no "open slots."
There IS NO SHIFTING, NO FLEXING INVOLVED!
THE PATRIOTS ARE AN AFC TEAM. PUTTING THEM ON FOX IS CONSIDERED A FLEX.
All I'm sayin is, make it a doubleheader:
1 PM Jets on CBS (Contractual in NY)...........Pats on FOX
4 PM Giants on FOX (Contactual in NY)) ......Cowboys on CBS (Scheduled here in NY)
Your solution is ******ed and your problem is you think the NFL should bend over backwards and screw over the entire nation just to satisfy a Patriots fan living in NY.

Sorry, but moving the Cowboys to 4:00 and putting them on CBS is idiotic when most of the country is getting Oakland-Denver on CBS at that same time slot.

You want to screw over 90% of the country just so you can get Mia-NE in NY. If we could clone you and your clone lived in Chicago, he would be *****ing and whining (just as much as you are right now) about how moronic your own solution is because your clone would lose NE-Mia and be stuck with meaningless Chi-MN on Fox and then another just-as-meaningless game on CBS (probably Jax-Indy).

You need to take off the Big Apple Blinders and look at how your solution impacts the rest of the country to see how moronic it truly is.
