Pats / Raiders TV reschedule? Why not?

Sorry to break it to you, but it's actually just against NFL TV policy to run doubleheaders on the same channel as the local game.
Didn't they bend the rules in 2007 to show the Pats/Giants season finale on all the Boston networks?

You need to take off the Big Apple Blinders and look at how your solution impacts the rest of the country to see how moronic it truly is.

Wow I did all that?!

You obviously have a problem with me being from NY. Again, If you read my original post I was just saying how cool it would be if they had Pats on here in NY for NY Pats fans to see and goodell* could careless about us. I'm from NY and a BIGGER PATs Fan than you'll ever be.

Gimme a break. What do you want? The Patriots game to be shown to the whole country?? Just move everybody to CBS except Mia-NE on Fox so everyone in the whole country can watch them?

Dude! This is exactly what I want! How do we make it happen?!?!?!

Yes. Your "solution" screws over about 90% of the country.

And if you read my original post, you'll see I was just saying the NFL did the best they could do given the circumstances.

Not everything is a slap in the face to Patriots fans. Believe it or not, the decades-old NFL TV contract laws to always broadcast the local team were not written with the intent of screwing over Patriots fans living in NY.
I'm from NY ans a BIGGER PATs Fan than you'll ever be.
Well, you're obviously not a big enough Patriots fan to pay for NFL Sunday Ticket like I do.

Anyways, me and 5 buddies/relatives will be watching the playoffs from my season ticket seats, which I have held for almost 2 decades. I believe that game will be televised in NY so I'll wave to you.

That was from before the NFL put all week 17 games on Sunday. The NYG-NE game from 2007 was a Saturday night game so since there were no games playing at the same time, they had much more leeway to bend rules and shift things around.

I think what they did was they turned an NFLN Thursday night game into a basic cable simulcast.

What they did was quite a bit more bizarre than that.

Basically, the original plan was the NFLN would show game nationally and since the games have to be televised in the local markets, WCVB-TV (which was the official network of the New England Patriots) would get local broadcast rights. However, this was back when very few people had NFLN on their providers so tremendous political pressure came about to put the show on network TV since so many people nationally wanted to watch NE go for 16-0.

But which network should get it? NBC held the rights to weekend night games, but CBS held the rights to the AFC road games. And WCVB didn't want either of those networks to get it since they wanted to be the sole provider over the airwaves in Boston.

Eventually the decision was made to give both NBC and CBS the rights to simulcast the game, with the caveat that WCVB (an ABC affiliate) could also simulcast in the Boston area. So on that fateful night, channels 4, 5 and 7 in Boston ALL showed the game, and both NBC and CBS showed it nationally (I do not know if any other stations had a simulcast in NY).

Dumb question, but could someone please explain how OAK has the tiebreaker over the Pats in case we lose and they win? That would give us both identical win-loss, conf record, div record, and even non-conf record.

Common opponents. If they win and we lose, Oakland is 5-0 against Den, Buf, Bal, and Hou. We would be 4-1 against the same teams.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks!

Course it makes me even more sour about losing the Jills game (at home, shutout no less), but then again that was with roast beef at starting QB...

I don't care about the early start, there is an advantage to starting later.
I'd rather start early. The Pats should be all in to win this game. Then when we have it won we can watch the later games and see how it all shakes out.

yeah the Pats should play all out for this game. Lock down the #1 seed and then relax as we watch the rest of the teams slip into there slots. I am rooting for Denver over Oakland, and Rooting for KC over San Diego.
