Over the last three seasons, the 2014 Seattle Seahawks surrendered the fewest points allowed with 254. The 2016 Patriots have allowed 236 points, so if they allow 17 or less points to the Dolphins, they will be the stingiest defense in three years, in terms of points surrendered. Even though you could argue that based on yards allowed, turnovers, sacks, strength of opponents, etc. this is not be the "best" defense of the last three years, having a chance at this accomplishment is darn impressive nonetheless. Points allowed isn't the only measuring stick, but it certainly is the most important one.
The 2013 Seattle Seahawks allowed 231 points, so the Patriots would be unable to match that mark.
Not bad for this garbage dump defense that doesn't meet the eye test, and that senile Belichick, who unloaded all of his talented defenders to purposefully throw away this season for a minimal return.
