Patriots vs. Jets Pre Game thread

Merry Christmas, everybody. I'm gonna miss this one - driving to relatives. It'll be my fault if they lose, so you have a scapegoat.

Hold the fort. Win the game. Pull out all the stops on your superstitious good luck charms. Good luck everybody. Good health to the Patriots and all of you.

Are they going to win one for their hospitalized coach? Is it better if he misses the game or actually makes it to coach? Petty gets the start?

My Novice opinion: Just having a little fun trying to break down a game.

The keys to this game will be to keep L.Williams and Richardson in check at the beginning of the game. They seem to run out of gas by the second half but wreak havoc in the first or at least they did the last game.

The Jets like to show 5 man fronts at times. They rush four while the fifth covers whoever is coming out of the backfield whether it's a screen pass or a run and on occasion blitz. It seemed quite effective against the run and the screen pass but in the second half of the last game the Pats had more success leaving me to believe that Williams and Richardson wore down.

Brady was severely hobbled the last game and at times was off target. I don't think that'll be a problem today especially being at home.

The Pats also had to switch or modify game plans last game because they lost Gronk in the first quarter and Bennett injured his ankle in the first half.

The Jets looked susceptible deep last game but Brady needed more time for those routes into the secondary to develop which he may have this time playing at home. I do see Mitchell and or Hogan having a couple of big plays.

Anyways I see this being a close game in the first quarter if neither team is turning the ball over and the Pats building momentum and pulling away comfortably throughout the rest of the game.

I don't see a 50 burger minus a massive buttfumble type game because the Pats should be able to run the ball in the second half and burn the clock.

Alright there it is. Let's see how it goes.

I think brady's itching to have a big day after last week against the donkeys. We will see.

The rain is gonna make things interesting. Could see lots of fumbles, drops, throws slipping out of the QB's hand. I mostly just have bad memories of the last drive of that 2013 Bengals game, although we're a much better team playing a much worse team this time around.

Might see alot of blount and Lewis. Hope lewis's finding his groove.

Uh oh!
Foxboro.
Temps in the low 40's.
Rain.
Better watch out for another PSI attack by the NFL. We know it didn't learn anything about the IGL.

You'd expect the plan to be to run the ball in the heavy rain but then fumbling becomes a risk. We've also seen Brady come out throwing in bad weather. I have no idea what will happen. Just hope it works.

I'm not impressed with the spread on this game. Just win and get out with no injuries. Use backups if a comfortable 2+ score lead in second half.

Jets pregame interviewed David Harris... very respectful of Pats' running game. Thinks they're gonna run Blount a lot. And then added, "Of course you know number 12 is still back there, so you gotta be ready for anything."

Jets announcers are reminiscing fondly about 2008-2010. LMAO

Going to the Sports Lounge on Anna Maria Island on Bridge St
It's a bears & lions bar with Pats on a smaller screen but since it's not overpopulated you can watch the game
Across the street is a Packers only bar. Met a guy who with his wife & one other Pats fan stranger watched Pats beat Seahags there in the SB. All NFC fans. Said it was EPIC!!!

actually happy to see Slater and High out of this one

cyrus back as expected .. interesting to see if for PR as well
(quite a challange in the rain - quite Belichickian)

Hope it all goes well with HT out.
