Michael Floyd DUI Arrest Video Shows Him Passed Out at the Wheel (VIDEO)

No he was charged with DUI. Which could have meant anything. Did not know BAC etc etc...

But the video pretty much shows he was hammered and now knowing he had an insane BAC will change most supportive type views.
Why would his BAC change any of the "supportive types" views.

I don't think I saw anyone say that what he did wasn't wrong, or that there shouldn't be heavy consequences for what he did. My issue was with those who felt that what he did should preclude him from being a member of the Patriots. He is paying a heavy price now, and that price is going to go up even further as the case is adjudicated, suspensions incur, and millions in FA money is lost.

My position has always been that as long as we haven't made having a DUI a reason for everyone to lose their job; and as long as Michael Floyd is a good player, teammate, and responsible citizen, I will welcome him with cautiously open arms. My question is, why wouldn't everyone?

**** BSPN. At least they get this crap out of the way before the playoffs. If he was still on AZ this would be a non story.

I always had the understanding that for the casual drinker, anything over 0.2 is essentially life threatening. But for the serious drunk, they have built up a tolerance to simulate 'functionality' over 2 and can survive up to high 0.2s (0.29 or so).

If above true and the 0.217 true, the bad news for the Pats is this guy his likely hitting the sauce hard 7-days a week. Not the way to be able to learn a game plan offense.

I hope for his sake (foremost) and for Pats that he had some singular event (wife leaving him or something) that caused him to act odd one time. If it is a pattern thing, then we may never see him on the active roster unless he gets serious help.

he could have had far less drinks than 16 but had it in a very short time

my guess is a blood draw might show more than alcohol in his system - opioid painkillers slow the metabolism of alcohol within the body, and my guess is, being an NFL player, that this could have been a factor as well.....and it could also lead to someone drinking what is "normal" to them yet ending up far more impaired than they expect

not making excuses by any means, but there could be many more mitigating factors than he just pounded beers

sleeping pills, cold medicines, etc can effect absorption rates, therefore making one "drunker" than they would expect

For the older crowd, it was estimated that Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham had consumed 40 shots of vodka in the 24 hrs before his death.

Steve Clark, guitarist for Def Leppard blew a .59 in Minneapolis, MN. He survived.

Incredible.

i remember a night in college where we decided to kill a handle of SoCo one shot at a time.....i stopped at 14, but a kid i knew hit closer to 20.......he went to sleep, and was coughing up a storm.....his RA tried to wake him, couldn't, and called health services......his blood draw had him at .3something.......

stupid **** we do, some of us learn to stop doing stupid ****

in this case it could be a sign of a major problem

it could be also the sign of a casual/semi-regular drinker who popped a pain pill, a sleeping pill, cold medicine, etc and got way more messed up than "normal" after a handful of drinks.....and most of us know how something like that can snowball....

the guy might be a mess, he might be a regular guy who got into a mess without intending to......i'm not going to claim to know one way or another.....

but from a football standpoint, this calculated risk could be huge if he straightens himself out

It's a tough call. I find myself conflicted.
(1) I don't care about any of them as people, so as long as my team wins games it's good
(2) recklessly endangering innocent people (could be my kid) while having unlimited resources to get home by others means

I have to think there is some kind of problem - maybe just pure stupidity - when an NFL player can't get a safe ride home given all of their ops.

agreed on most of this

but the scenario could easily be a trainer gave him a few pills to help his pain, or a sleeping aid to help him on the plane.....had a few beers and got into trouble.....we just don't know at this point

bottom line is it happened.....he's on the Pats, and could contribute.....if he gets himself right, and that's my hope

I've gotta think BB knows the deal, and he took a chance on him regardless......that's gotta count for something

Hard part for me after watching the videos multiple times, how could he even be remotely awake with 2.17?

His eyes are wide open. He is confused but he wasn't staggering around and barely sitting up. I've been drunk as hell and seen others far less than that and they are barely able to even speek or keep their eyes open. It's well known that in a deep sleep it can take a while to get your bearing and when you are in a strange situation it becomes even worse.

If he blew that into a pinball machine, he'd have gotten 62 free games...

IMO the video is actually a good thing. He was not aggressive with the cops which is all you could hope for if you want a silver lining. At least he does not give off the feel of a violent guy.

I don't see how anyone can be surprised he looked this drunk after it was reported he fell asleep with his foot on the break. I expected him to be very drunk and he was. Was not surprised by that at all.

As far as the legal stuff that will work itself out. I don't feel the need to punish a guy beyond what the legal system would do in most cases so i am not one to often call for a guy to lose his job (unless he commits a violent act in which cause a side with the employer). That being said the Patriots have a right to be image conscious due to the particular nature of their business so a short leash for Floyd is fine.

I do hope or him personally this is his last offense. DUIs don't make you a bad person but obviously it is a horrible act to be careless with other peoples lives.

My god can you imagine if this turned into a Rodney King thing?

My god.

According to some local police they told me when I was younger that the town drunks that they would pull over had blood alcohol levels of .4

3 years ago I became a drunk for a summer, by the end of the summer I was putting down a 6-12 beers and a handle of captain morgan a night. And as time moved on I got less and less drunk. I only did it for a couple months. But I bet I was in the .2 .25 range at the end of my binge nightly. (Got some time off of work and had some unusual circumstances that year)

Anyway the video doesn't change my mind about the signing. He is an extra body in case of emergency injury and I doubt he will have much of an impact.

What matters is what Goody thinks. The man has a reality distortion issue.

Hell a player beat the crap out of his wife (twice) and the man did nothing until public pressure forced the issue.
So with this video on TMZ and Floyd on the Patriots expect a lifetime ban permanently burdening the Patriots roster and salary cap with his cost as of today, until Hell freezes over.

I feel guilty at laughing at that...
Yeah, I had second thoughts after typing it because I wasn't trying to make light of the situation. I meant it more as a comment on how ****-faced he must have been to blow in excess of .2. I'm not sure pinball machines even exist any longer...

They'd be disastrous in NYC. Any of them driving a Jets fan would rear-end the one driven by the Jets fan in front of them.
Fumble!

Meh. It was funny. You won't see me at confession tomorrow.
