Who's gonna pay him?
He is going to be a rotational player. We need 3T at least, i think next year we are gonna carry 4. Solder is a FA in 2018. So Solder, Cannon, Rookie + Vollmer makes sense.

I dont get whats so difficult to understand so let me phrase this even simpler. I think Vollmer will rather retire than play and risk even more injuries for the contract that we will offer him.

Just because something makes sense from a team perspective it doesn't mean that the player sees it the same way.

Vollmer only have 8 NFL seasons, so he played his rookie contract + one "big" contract that he is not even close to collect all the money, why dont collect an extra paycheck Just to Be an insurance guy and help to develop the next rookie..

That's not was suggested in this thread. Other poster here suggested to give him |3m to be a rotational guy. My entire point is, that I see him retiring unless someone else offers him a somewhat reasonable payday.

Why should he retire now ? He is is still getting paid his base salary, I assume the Pats/NFL also pay for his injury rehab as long as he is signed and he keeps his options open in case some other needy team offers him a contract. Lets see if Jason Licht or Bob Quinn would be more willing to pay for some veteran presence.

It's unbelievable how much he turned it around. Really thought ANY free agent out there could do a better job, now he's become a key cog and crucial on the line. Credit both to Scar's coaching and Cannon himself for working so hard to be a (much) better player.
