Brady, Patriots nearing an uncomfortable crossroads

A rather intriguing, but for many, annoying form of speculation is that Brady is approaching the age where most quarterbacks historically experience a decline their level of play. This writer (from ESPN of course) cites the findings of senior analytics specialist Brian Burke to prove this.

39yr old QB doesn't have many years left of MVP-caliber play. Hmm. Sounds like Captain Obvious got promoted to Admiral.

Seriously, every Pats fan should enjoy what's left of the Tom Brady era. His career is in bonus time and no matter how hard he works to keep himself in tip top shape, at some point his body just might reject that effort. Nobody knows, not even him, how much longer he can keep doing this. That we even bicker about this team being in title contention or not with him as the QB at his age is a luxury I never thought we fans would have.

Wonder what they said about Nolan Ryan? Someone always comes along and breaks the preconceived notio9ns. You'd think people would stop betting against Brady. He'll decline when he declines or quits. They should just sit back and appreciate what he is doing because it happens so infrequently.

1. Brady has suffered no injuries with long-term effects. Legs, neck, shoulders, concussions, nothing like that.
2. The year he missed with the ACL might actually serve to enhance his longevity.
2. No other long-time great QB in NFL history had an exercise/diet regimen anywhere near Brady's. Peyton? Nope. Favre? Snort. Bradshaw? LOL Can you think of ANY?

Those points would be brought out by any decent reporting. Of course, decent reporting has nothing to do with this article.

My take is that this is what this knucklehead is trying to do.

Tom is 39. Its reasonable to assume the Pats do some of this when figuring out contracts and insurance for Tom.

Other than Favre and Moon, there are no other QBs in NFL history that have played at a ProBowl level at 40.

In terms of continuing to play at an All-Pro level, Tom is kinda approaching uncharted waters here.

Oh well.

BSPN is like a broken clock - They will print that story every year and EVENTUALLY they will be right, and when they day comes you can be certain they will be sure to let everyone know how they "got it right" What a farce of an organization. I can't believe that 3 stand up guys like Reiss, Brucski, and Moss can stand to work for them. I would LOVE to see them leave for better gigs, since they are all so good.
