I haven't seen much note of this, but Patrick Chung absolutely dictated the game to Flacco last night. IMHO, his was the best defensive performance by any player for either team not named Zach Orr.

For whatever reason (and I'd like to find out exactly WHY) we did not see "Jumpball Joe" doing what he usually does - - in fact, I can't remember more than one or two wild moonshot flings by him last night. It was as if, Flacco was afraid of Willie Mays McCourty (and he should be).

There was a lot off underneath - - and it seemed that on almost every occasion, Chung was right on it knocking the receiver/TE back immediately.

Only worry I have is that he looks injured after every tackle the past 4 weeks.

Chung had a bad 2 game stretch this year but besides that has been very good. One of our key defenders and should make the probowl.

I was only mad at him on that long pass to Perriman where Cyrus was burned. I feel that if Chung turned his head to look back at the ball he may have been able to get a hand up and swat it down.

I think I said it in another thread but I honestly believe that after getting regularly intercepted by DMac and Harmon, the Patriots safeties have moved into Flacco's head to a point where he is hesitant to just let it rip.

I think the only reason this ball was thrown was because Flacco saw Chung was the safety on that side of the backfield and knew that he doesn't have as much range as DMac or Harmon.

There is no All 22 so far but this will be one of the first things I will checkout once its available. I don't think Flacco even goes for the deep shot if DMac is there instead of Chung.

In my view, Chung has been performing consistently at a very high level. In addition to erasing big receivers, he is playing with the front 7 blowing up runs and showing tremendous versatility (he nearly got to the bomb to Perriman after Jones was beat). Throw in his special teams (returner, onside kick recovery) and he is a special player who probably doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

Turning around and tracking the ball is not his game.

If there is a pass thrown past 15 yards Chung is a liability.

Anything run/pass inside 15 yds he is a monster.

Great point - I forgot that he was on the "hands" team and recovered the onside kick near the end.
