On the other hand, Jimmy G is no slouch and they're playing the freakin' Rams. I feel fairly confident Jimmy can take them.

Additionally, it's a good opportunity to remind some teams who are already out of contention this year: "Hey, remember this kid? He's still good, and he could be yours if you've got the currency."

I generally hate this kind of speculation, but I'd be lying if the same thoughts hadn't crossed my mind.

No one knew Mankins played in the Super Bowl on a torn ACL either. Some of these guys are just wired to play through things other guys can't, and it would not shock me if after the season was over we find out this was worse than we ever knew.

Start Jimmy G. and dress Brady as back-up. If Jimmy G. falters or can't move the offense, Brady can step in and save the day. If Jimmy G. gets the job done (which I suspect he will), Brady gets some much needed rest for his body.

The Pats have five PHYSICAL match-ups to go. Even the crappier teams - Rams and Jets - are tough and nasty.

This might be the one week they can be without Brady and Gronk and reliably win - Rams have the worst offense in the league.

I'd be shocked if it was an ACL. But I wouldn't be surprised if it came out that he had a minor MCL tear after the season.
