Mills...I'm not buying...however...

Re: Mills....I'm not buying...However.......

Tulsa is a Division 1 school. Did you know that? Hmm.. Doesn't seem like it. OH, and Mills did more than "just play some special teams" in college. He was a friggin ALL-AMERICAN his senior year. That just doesn't happen to a kid from "some no name HICK COLLEGE."

Since when do TEs run the ball? Since when does an H-back run the ball? They don't. And Mills isn't being expected to run the ball yet. He's expected to be a blocking FB who can all run damn good routes.

As for what you'd prefer, its matters not. What matters is what BB prefers. And what BB prefers are guys who show versatility and contribute on special teams.

As for this supposed interview you heard, was it live? Was it over the radio? Did you stop to think that maybe he was NOT being condescending but downplaying the hype? Which would you rather have? A starstruck dumb kid who can't focus on running patterns or a kid who doesn't care if who is throwing him the ball as long as he is doing his job. That is what your description comes across as.

This idea of yours that receivers should be kissing the ground that Brady walks on is just stupid. This team is looking for players. Not arse kissers.

What can I say, other than lighten up. As usual your post comes across as over-bearing and arrogant. But what would I expect from a know it all DB.

I am not a fan of Mills, my reasons may not be based in reality and they were half posted to be humorous. Lets see if Mr. All American makes the team.

I remember a similar response when I said Gaffney would make the team. You nailed that one as well.

Over-bearing and arrogant? WOW. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. Especially considering the arrogance you showed in your initial post.

As for you saying Gaffney would make the team, make sure you put the clarifier in that you used in that argument which was that he'd make the team over Caldwell. And, considering that the 53 man roster hasn't been named, you really need to stop counting your chickens before they hatch.

Actually, DB, overbearing and arrogant is a decent way to describe how you come across at times. It seems as if you go into argue and belittle mode the minute you come across a dissenting opinon.

I know that you probably don't mean to come across that way, but your posts still do.

Re: Mills....I'm not buying...However.......

Wow, BOX...little harsh?

I posted this thread to gain insight on Garrett Mills and get out of the way.

Don't see how this was an attempt to attain Sainthood, as you so delicately put it.

I've seen most of the Pat's training camp sessions and my eyes tell me that a significant change is in the works.

This may affect both Garrett Mills and the standard two TE sets.

Perhaps, others in attendance see differently...I'll leave the "beatification" to Pats1 and Mrs B.
Gently my good sir, I took your own post to be a bit harsh out of the gates and it seems my attempt to diffuse some of the warm and loving responses you were drawing has now raised a reciprocal concern. I was sure you would have looked in the mirror and gotten a chuckle over the idea of Sainthood, **sigh** mea culpa (don't you hate it when your only knowledge of latin is so aptly descriptive of yourself?).

Mills was very quick in the one PS game he saw last year. Surprisingly quick. There is no way you would make that comment if you actually saw him play.

Dabruinz has some nice camp times helping the arguement and Oswelk I really want to believe you, but Faulk and Meggett are prob the top 10 best 3rd down backs ever to play the game. Well, Faulk might be a stretch, but Meggett is in that list and I've seen both play many times.

I'll buy a comparison to Larry Centers, but not Meggett and Faulk.

Re: Mills....I'm not buying...However.......

Are you saying Mills is as quick as Kevin Faulk and Dave Meggett?

Larry Centers wasn't as quick as K. Faulk and made an excellent pass catcher out of the backfield.

All this spirited discourse over Garrett Mills, and Bam Childress, has me thinking:

I am ready for some Footbaaall...

I second that. This thread is too feisty!

Re: Mills....I'm not buying...However.......

he had the chance to cement his presence in the rooster

This sounds like some type of weird southern expression...

It's not just the feistiness; It's reading about the good things that Mills, Childress, et. al. can do to help us win. I'm jacked and pumped to see for myself. Unfortunately, I may not be able to see anything until CBS(?) shows the pre-season game @ Carolina(?).

Re: Mills....I'm not buying...However.......

Isn't a Binky another name for pacifier??

My understanding of the term, at least the way Ordway coined it, is that it was what child psychologists describe as a "transitional object". A blanket, a stuffed animal, a pacifier etc that a child uses to comfort themselves. The term has taken on the meaning of your own unreasonably favorite player. Someone you just *like* and want to see make it. Now Brady doesn't classify as a binky because his success is a foregone conclusion. It's got to be a kind of shakey player who may or may not make it.
