This kinda bummed me out - Chandler Jones kickin ass (so far)

Was bored so checked in on our old friend Chandler Jones at ARZ, hoping he had sucked balls... But alas, damn!

1. Cardinals OLB Chandler Jones has recorded 21 QB pressures this season, second-most among 3-4 outside linebackers.

So far this season, the Cardinals’ trade for Jones has been paying off. The former Patriot has four sacks, four hits, and 13 hurries, and is on pace for 84 on the year—the most for an Arizona edge rusher in the PFF era (since 2006). On most snaps, he will face 49ers LT Joe Staley, who is typically one of the better pass protectors in the league, but over the last three games, has allowed one QB hit and eight hurries. Jones is bound to get a few pressures, and could force Staley to surrender his first sack of the season.

But it guess this is how he always starts til he wears out and games begin to count for real... and the improvement is not surprising since he can just pin his ears back 90% of the time.

Anyway don't shoot the messenger, and the season is still young. We've seen it before.

I like him too as a player, so not sure where this unexpected schadenfreude is coming from Maybe I should see a shrink, haha. There must be a few unresolved personal issues I'm unaware of. At least that's what mom says....

16 sacks pro rated for the year...no way he hits that total. He was a lucky garbage collector vs NE in game 1, so not sure how impactful he's really been. I'd have to take those stats with a grain of salt. But those QB hurries, that's tough to ignore.

I think that while he was a promising young player, they may have felt as though he was going to be too expensive to keep. We saw something similar with Seymour. I'm sure Belichick appreciated the play of both, but these kinds of tough decisions will always need to be made in the salary cap era.

Not really. It's more of the same old from Chandler. Makes an impact here or there and goes missing for the rest of the game.

Yeah, but you'd think a stat like 'hurries' would attribute it to the correct rusher. Sacks and fumble and recoveries maybe not so much. But overall it all seems like some very impressive stats viewed at face value.

Sometimes a change of scenery is what a player needs..

In Jones case his alleged flirtation with Synthetic M was not the type of baggage that the Pats wanted to assume..

Was never sure how the Pats were going to pay him, Hightower, Collins, Ryan and Butler et al.

He's always showed up early on. Let's see how he does later in the season and in the playoffs. I hear the Patriots still have an APB out for him in Denver.

Their ratings are garbage, but their pressure stats (and coverage stats) aren't too bad. With Jones, I don't mind seeing him do well. He wasn't a franchise-calibre pass rusher, but he played reasonably well for us and was part of a Super Bowl winning team. No hard feelings. Would've personally kept him, but Chris Long isn't doing too bad either. Doug Kyed has registered 23 pressures in four games for Long (though I think Kyed is a tad more generous than PFF, against the Cardinals for example he gave Long four pressures while PFF had three).

If he were an unstoppable force, the Cardinals wouldn't be 2-3. He is an excellent player who fits their system better than ours. We had to make a choice and we chose Collins and Hightower.

I think we made the right choice.

When Nink gets back, I think we'll be able to gauge how much we are hurting for a pass rush. With Nink and Long rushing from the sides, I think we'll be doing pretty well. *fingers crossed*

But like a leaf on a tree, he's great to look at this time of year. But when December hits, you forget he was ever even there.

It is well known around the league that when BB moves on from a player, they are usually done (or within one year of being done).
Mr. Jones's success will at least stoke future trade fires. Everyone knows that the house wins at the casino... but we keep going because we think we're going to be the one to make a little cash that night.

In every year of his career, Chandler has never maintained this pace- never.

It remains to be seen if they made the right choice but overall I agree. I think the did as well.

The return has been good when you consider Mitchell, Thuney + cap space. Add to that Cooper might be close to returning & Long was a solid pick up. Overall : Jones isn't worth all of those things to NE.

There's also the fact that Arizona is only asking Jones to rush the passer, while here he had more responsibilities.

jones has ALWAYS looked good this time of the year. the key will be how he looks in November and December
