Thought that was a cool article. I think the answer to the question "why didn't the Patriots respond" is because, unfortunately, Marc Sessler is considered a member of the media now instead of just a fan/student and is thus given the media treatment.

great read, very enjoyable, thanks for sharing

The Belichick Letters

I suspect many of you will relate--at least a bit--to the passion andcommitment of this fan. It should bring at least a smile as "we" prepare to return to the city where it all began.

This really was an awesome read.

Very interesting and insightful. I hope he eventually gets the answer to his question

BTW- Marc Sessler currently works at the NFL Network and participates with 3 other staffers in the Around the League Podcast which post 3 times a week. It consists of one big Pats fans, one big Jets fan, Sessler the form Browns fan, and another guy who I'm not sure who he follows. Regardless, they give recaps and postscripts of played games, and previews of upcoming games. And while its usually pretty standard stuff, they are amusing and don't take themselves too seriously, but are clearly football fans who are thrilled they got jobs writing at the NFL network.

Because I hate the NFL so badly, I limit my time on NFL.com to 3 things:
1. The around the league podcasts.
2. The move the chains podcasts (run by 2 former scouts), and
3, the post game stats page I use in my post game posts.

Good read indeed. It's interesting how the contrasts lie as far as communication policies for BB at the end of the day. Seems he was very open during his time in CLE, but in the future, would be careful to let anything get out of 1 Patriot Place. Considering everything in hindsight, it makes a whole lot of sense.

Good read, but an element of doubt at the end.. take it for face value, not every event inn life is an expose..

If Belichick truly wrote those letters, it's proof of a man who cared about the fans -- and especially about the football-obsessed.

I don't think he wrote them. He had his admin write them. He might have a template that he authored that she goes by. Not a big deal really. Very common.

When I was 11 I wrote a letter to Ronald Regan. I got back an autographed picture and a letter outlining the reasons the USA was a great country bla bla. I think it was a couple of years later I realized he had nothing to do with the response.

This guy was kinda gullible, imo.

I think you're right. At the same time, I think the fact BB would even tell his admin to bother writing back is more than most HCs would do. Who gives a **** about some college kid? BB did.

Can't wait for the PFT story, "Belichick wrote a kid letters, unless he didn't."

I usually don't talk about this but my younger brother has a casual professional relationship with BB from years ago. My brother and him talk from time to time and the one thing he said is that BB always gets back to my brother every single time. He said it might be a couple of words sometimes like a thanks if my brother congratulates him on a big win win but my brother said that Bill is one of the few people who will always get back to you. He said Bill's never not acknowledged an e-mail my brother has sent over the years. You don't hear that kind of stuff from the media though.

Exactly. BB strikes me as the guy if he senses you have put thought and effort into something he'll give you the time of day. I bet the admin knows this and put the letter/request in front of BB. When these types of inquiries come up, he'll handle them with care, but in a process.

Seeing that guy received 100s of letters weekly calling for his resignation, this was a welcome sight.

I thought his letters were DYJ and IIWII?

Chris Wessling is in football purgatory after becoming disillusioned with the Cincinnati Bengals front office and ownership in the 90's. His greatest joy seems to come from their now annual wildcard exit from the playoffs.
