Warning: ESPN Article On TB12's Return to Ann Arbor (It's Really Good)

It's a great article. I'm surprised by them saying Brady felt "estranged" from Michigan, though. He never fails to talk it up and met with the team a few years ago when we played Detroit in a preseason game. I know the stuff and playing time, Henson, etc, but the picture that was painted about his relationship with Michigan was unexpected to me.

that path through michigan and the patriots would have been completely different had things been different at Michigan

in the end, the path was perfect.........

Me too. I was shocked.

I'm trying not to put feelings in the guy's body but I think in Tom's mind, he earned the recognition and honor that came with being a successful starting quarterback at UM (...and kicking ass in the Orange Bowl) and the UM elites treated him like an accidental benefit.

Tom felt he earned their respect and recognition and because he was not the "blue-chipper" he felt dissed.

I get it.

As I recall from the show Brady 6. it seemed like Michigan was always trying to put someone else in ahead of him and perhaps he didn't feel really wanted.

Right, I thought that was more of a thing just with him and the HC (Lloyd Carr I think) and didn't realize he was considered "estranged" with more than just the old HC.

How can you possibly trust anything in that article to be factual?

Gotta keep in mind that UM is a blue blood school. I bet some big-time boosters and very powerful members of the athletics dept were pressuring the hell out of Carr to start Henson no matter what. God knows what strings they pulled or whos palms they greased so Hensen would sign there. Carr was in a very, very tough spot.

So my theory is that Brady's beef was not with Carr, it was with the athletic dept and the boosters.

Hey, Tom's a well-balanced Irishman. He's got chips on both shoulders.

Nice article... thanks for posting. Now if you'll excuse me... I have to get...

...clean. LOL

That is plausibly backed up by the bit in the article about Harbaugh being horrified and furious that the athletic dept tried to hit Brady up for a big-time donation back during a low-profile February visit.

That was so classless....my god. The perception that Tom must have had..."They invite me out here and then try to hit me up for money?". That now puts the people who asked Tom to consider coming out in his sights as conspiring to try and lift his wallet while he is there. No wonder Harbaugh was livid.

I also remember from somewhere Tom being very genuine and sincere when speaking about Lloyd Carr and all he did for him and seemed to imply that he understood Carr had a tough situation.
