I know it's been mentioned before, but can someone please explain why they didn't just put him on IR from the get-go? Did they re-work his contract?
I'm not sure if re-signed would be the best way to put it, as Hairston was likely waived/injured last Friday, has cleared waivers, and now has reverted to the IR.
Why does he go to IR if he clears waivers? Wouldn't he just become a free agent.
I'm not sure.
Before the coach offered his insights into Walsh, he delved into more immediate matters, beginning with those involving Mel Mitchell and Justise Hairston.
He said Hairston’s release, and the re-signing to put him on IR, was simply a matter of going through a league mechanism that was too complicated to go through briefly — “Honestly, there are some procedures where we have to call them to make sure we’re doing it right,” the coach explained.
Maybe it's as simple as giving him a chance with another team. I suppose we may never know.
