"Saving Grace": 'well-done' from Christian POV?

Just saw "Saving Grace" last night. Personally, the whole "visited by an angel and getting a last chance to avoid Hell" theme is a yawner for me, given that I don't believe in Hell.

But, I do have to say it's an interesting conceit for the writers of this show. The title character curses incessantly, is screwing a married guy when the series opens (like, right then, not just generally having an affair,) etc. In a word, you could watch the first 15 minutes and get mildly titilated.

The other side of the coin, is that within the standard Christian "get saved" dynamic, this makes absolute sense. We're all sinners, right? So what's the point in watching some guy who never did anything more outre than keep a library book too long, getting saved? Why not watch a serious heavy-duty sinner? Certainly illustrates the point way better for dramatic effect.

So, from the inside: how do you guys who actually believe in Christianity feel about this particular fable?

Better than wiping out a city with a flood to get one shady politician, if ya ask me!

havent seen or heard of it? When/where is it on?

there was a show a couple of years ago on NBC, i think, starring Aiden Quinn as a church leader ( I have forgotten the denomination) but although lots of Christian folk got outraged by it I actually liked it.
It showed him and those around him as flawed people, but it showed him having a personal relationship with ************. Now the idea of Jesus appearing as real dude riding in the car next to you, with beard and robe and all, has to be done for TV I suppose. But the idea of it, of keeping Him close to you and the nature of their relationship I thought was pretty cool and what I think the writers were going for.

Hey, its better than watching "The Omen" or something.

Lifer, I remember that one vaguely (more like, I remember the outrage.) I have heard some people are outraged about "Amazing Grace" too, but I don't know who, or how representative it is.

I believe it's an NBC show, but you could easily google it if interested. Oh didn't mention... of course, in addition to everything else, she's also a detective. And yes, some angel named Earl visits her. First visit is pretty much a Darma ripoff.

Character: yeah right you're an angel.
Angel: (Spreads wings impressively and magically transports character to somewhere other than actual scene of encounter.)
Character: (Doubts own sanity, but discovers after the encounter a physical souvenir of the actual place.)

So much for meeting the angel Earl. For me, it's pretty good drama, although I doubt I'd watch it religiously, no pun intended... try to catch it next week, assuming its on next week, and let me know what you think.
