It's easy, and only takes a few moments.I forget who it was, but I remember hearing that there was a team ready to pounce him before the Pats. I think he could've been a 15-20 pick myself, but I'm just basing this on what I've read and saw him do when Miami games were televised. I root for the Seminoles so I did keep an eye on him when we played the 'Canes. If Merriweather didnt have any incidents on and off the feild and had a clean slate, would he have lasted till the 24th pick? what do you guys think...

He was the third safety taken......just where he was supposed to be.
If we hadn't taken him at 25....he would not have lasted lasted until 28.
His off-field transgressions had nothing to do with
his final draft position.
IMO,he's a better choice than Reggie Nelson, because he can play CB,also.
Also,if I had to choose between Merriweather at 25 and Darelle Revis, including giving up 2 draft choices......I'll take Merriweather.....
The key here is we don't need this kid to start right away.......If Revis,Landry.or Reggie Nelson, don't
start and play at a high level, immediately.
Their teams are in serious trouble.
The Jets made a foolish mistake giving up so much for Revis, considering that their gross weakness is at DL and QB.

Fourth:
Landry, Nelson, Griffin, Meriweather.
I'll agree that he was the 4th rated safety, however,I
still contend that his stock did not drop because of his transgressions.
The Eagles would have grabbed this guy in a heartbeat,if he fell to them.
The Patriots,easily,could have traded # 24 and used # 28.......Merriweather is the reason,they didn't.
Believe it or not,but the perception before the draft
was that Landry and Griffin were "dumb as rocks"
Nelson and Werriweather we're not.
This might not concern other teams, but with the
Patriots,is a big factor.

I don't know where you're getting your info but that statements is dead wrong!
Landry, Griffin, and Meriweather were all considered to be smart players, while Mr. Reggie Nelson was rumored to be a complete moron. Different scouts were talking about his low IQ just weeks before the draft, and some wondered if it would hurt his draft stock.
Nelson's getting drafted were he did was more a product of the Jags infatuation with the Florida program. They're the only team in the NFL with more U of Florida products than NE, and they took Reggie out for Supper at very swank establishments......almost like they were a college program, lol!
Don't see what's wrong with taking your draft prospect out to dinner. Nelson seemed to be a very impressive prospect imo. Meriweather might end up just as good... as long as he keeps his nose clean. I think he'll toe the line in the Pats lockerroom though which is why I think they took the risk on drafting him.
