I try to take the high road, but I'd be lying if I said his self promoting, stat padding, self legacy building antics didn't bother me. His retirement announcement speech was all about his own accomplishments. And it looked like crocodile tears. His praises should be left for others to mention, IMO. He was a great player, but he always had to make sure his legacy was scripted. The turning point for me was the "Spontaneous, Ball keep away" with Welker and co. I try not to harp on it, and sound like a bitter rival fan, but I'd be a phoney myself if I didn't admit that. I wish him well and respect his accomplishments in the game. Just get used to the idea of a Peyton tsunami of commercials, books, appearances, commentating, self promoting BS. His ego will not allow him to just ride off into the sunset. He will live his days feeling he was the best to ever play the game. And he wont afraid to let you know that. I just wish he were a little humble. It just takes the shine off a little for me.
