I'm not bashing JE. He everything Welker was plus clutch. However the media and some fans have overplayed the impact at this point. It was just missing JE. It was missing Solder, Volmer, Amendola, Gronk and Lewis for all or part of when JE was out.

I think was JE provides for the team is probably as valuable, or at least close, to the team as what Gronk does. The difference being the fall off from Gronk to option two is about 25% productivity and I'm probably being kind. If DA was good to go it's probably about 75%.

Throw in the OL injuries and it was simply the perfect storm not just JE.

Again not a bashing thead on JE at all. The offense has so much more continuity when he's in there but if he was the only one out it would have been a lot easy to cover up.

The beginning of this title made my heart stop for a second

Sorry I tried to make the title innocuous. Maybe a mod can choose a better one.

Damn it. You really did scare me. I thought he was out for the game against the Broncos

JE is the MVP of the receivers. His quickness is like no other. He WAS the missing peice that put the puzzle back together. Just my opinion.

Nope. JE is the engine of this offense. Plus, having him in instantly makes the OL better.

He single-handedly changes the dynamics of this offense.

Had Amendola been healthy, Edelman's absence would have been less dramatic but still noticeable. From Brown to Branch to Welker to Amendola to Edelman, the Patriots offense has been proven to require a very quick, versatile receiver who is especially good on creating immediate separation on short passes and getting open over the middle for first downs.

Edelman is an absolute stud, but I still roll my eyes when anyone says they'd rather lose Gronkowski, who might be the most irreplaceable skill player in the NFL.

No disrespect OP but I think the stats with and without Edelman on 3rd down disproves your theory.

Edelman presence alone is a big difference and has a trickle down effect on everything. He's TB12 security blanket just look at the KC game he looked confident as ever just having JE there. Instead of Lafell receiving the CB1 from the opposing team, he ends up getting CB2 or CB3 and on top of that, it gives Gronk more room to get open as well. Forgetting Amendola and Martin so Edelman makes a huge difference.

Sorry excuse for a thread, and even worse title. Get rid of it.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Old Seinfeld line for those that remember the 90's!

Brady

Then Edelman and Gronk.

Then you go WAY down the importance ladder for the Patriots' offense to click. I was thinking Dion Lewis could be up there with the second tier, Edelman and Gronk, but alas...

Missing any of these three makes New England much easier to defend, gets Danny lit up, and puts a #1 corner on LaFell.

On Defense, they'r emuch more a "team." but on offense, it's clearly these three this year, with nothing but distant fourths...and I say this as a huge Danny Amendola fan. He just can't do it game in and game out like JE.

Are you trying to kill people with heart attacks and strokes, or something?
