They certainly weren't perfect today but they did keep Brady upright and they gave him time for the most part. Is this simply because Edelman is back and that gives Tom the opportunity to get the ball out quicker or did they step up their game? Moving them around help? Vollmer back change everything? Bad KC Dline? (All of the above?) There were plays where Tom had a while to find the open man and also a few times when even with some pressure there was enough room for him to move around in the pocket to extend plays. While there's still plenty of room to improve they looked a lot better today than they have recently. If they have to go to Denver, they will need to have a similar performance.

They did a great job, exceeded expectations against a strong Chiefs D. But of course they were only playing vanilla the last few weeks of the regular season... Kidding of course, someone will actually believe that..

I don't think Edelman returning was the only factor, but having Edelman around obviously gives Brady another key player to target. I feel the team generally had more swag and NE wanted KC to believe they were hurting more than they actually were. I mean, Gronk was certainly nowhere near: "Gronk will be nowhere near 100%"" He was hurting, but not so much..

It was an overall good game by this team, especially the two weeks to get their act together, hope they play the same way next week.
Also we need more production out of our running game. Stephen Jackson is meh, he worries me at times that he will fumble.

He certainly runs angry, the issue is I don't think he really has the pop left to pull it off. I think it was the first run that he tried that weird hop half spin through the los with the ball up by his chin. Cetainly looked awkward, but 10 years ago he slips through and blows by the safety coming down for a huge play.

Then on the 2nd rz carry (after the hard faught 6ish yard gain), if he's a tad more patient and had his "young burst" that's 6 easy after letting the dl wash a bit while the backers over pursue/guard hits 2nd level.

All that said, it's nice to see a big dude stick his god damn legs in the ground and look for contact. While he doesn't seem anywhere near as explosive in the 2nd level as blount last year, his anger at the los is a welcome breathe of fresh air. He can still knock people back and seems to welcome the challenge. I wouldn't mind him seeing a few more touches, maybe the odd swing play/screen to see what he can do in space against smaller tacklers.

The "e light" may have flicked on, but there's a few miles left in that tank...

O-line looked better because Brady was getting rid of the ball much faster.
Agree with you about the running game. Was ridiculous how they burned a grand total of 30 seconds off the clock going 3 and out while passing the ball with a 14 point lead and 7 minutes left on the clock. Just plain old stupid football. Should be running there and taking time of the clock. NEVER should have come down to an onside kick in that game. Patriots need to smarten up.
Saw some of the worst clock management in both games yesterday.
Just brutal.
Coaching in the NFL has been just as bad as the officiating.

Houston played like 8 snaps.
Hali has been dinged for a while, he played 15 snaps last week. The line did a good job. They will have a bigger test next week with Den if they should get through. Certainly I think the addition of JE and a touch of rest helped!

I thought the OL played pretty well, but Brady made them look better. They usually gave Brady the 2.5 seconds he needed, and a couple of times gave him more. Not only did Brady get the ball out quick, his pocket movement was superb. The way he climbed the pocket on 3rd and 13 was unreal. The Pats were in 3rd and long far too often, but Brady was almost flawless. Hope they can keep 3rd down more manageable throughout the playoffs. If the OL can continue to play at least this well, the Pats have a great shot at winning it all.

For this old Ga Tech fan, it was good seeing Shaq back at right guard (he started all his games as a junior and senior at rg after playing lg as a soph). Now if we can just get him his no 70 back....

I thought the line played great, especially after what we've been seeing lately. Like others have said, having Jules back sure makes a big difference.

SJax is not a fumbler....never has been.

With that said run blocking is not a strength of this unit.

Huh? The Pats have no running game because of injuries. They've tried to add a few guys but it hasn't worked out. Passing was the only way to win yesterday. I didn't have any issues with the Pats play calling or clock management. None.

I think having Edelman back was the difference. It allowed Brady to get rid of the ball quicker which has rippling effects. When the D linemen are unable to get to Brady play after play because he's getting rid of it so quickly, they get discouraged and the OL grows confidant. I think this affects the play of both sides, so that when Brady does take more time, they still weren't getting to him like they were while Edelman was out. The O line was being praised early in the season with Lewis and Edelman healthy, but suddenly they struggled after both got hurt. Now with Edelman's return and the return of the quick passing game, they suddenly improved.

You could see this same concept with RG3 and Cousins. RG3 held on to the ball too long and the OL was horrible. With Cousins in the game, they were much better. It's one side of the line gaining confidance and the other becoming discouraged.

Nothing has really changed with the oline other than brady getting all his weapons back.

People forget the first 10games of the season, people were praising the oline because brady wasnt getting hit. Then edelman goes down and amendola and the oline goes turnstile

Then both come back healthy and brady doesnt get touched.

Brady is at his best when he spreads out good defenses and gets the ball out quickly. Something he can do with edelman and amendola healthy.

Its how we beat the ravens and seahawks last year

Slightly disagree...I think up by two touchdowns and just a few minutes left, you take the 2 minutes+ off the clock.

Solder and volmer being hurt certainly affected the OL

I'm not really sure why fumbling is the concern, but it's very obvious that Jackson is completely toast. I have to think that white would be better than Jackson's sub 3 yards a carry.

I want to see Bolden get the carries over Jackson...the guy can be as good as Ridley.
