Got some good mileage out of Casillas and Ayers last year. The rejuvenated Branch was picked off the couch mid season last year and Keshawn Martin looks like a keeper this year.

Maybe they aren't all late season, but you can't tell me his diligent effort working out players every week hasn't paid off.

I think what people are missing is, you don't need an all pro or a success on other teams. The whole idea IMO, is BB has a book on players that aren't used right or given a chance to shine in a certain role.

Who cares what their stats are, a play here or there, or filling a role so you're not totally vulnerable, allows the stars to win games.

I wonder how many players in recent years, picked up, or traded for little, from mid season on have filled in, I just mentioned a few. Siliga and Hicks are two more. That's 3 in a line rotation picked up after rosters were set. Being a good fit is better than being a superstar when there's less than a half a season left.

Thoughts?

Talib too! Leonard Johnson? Seems like he's hungry.

It's amazing when you think about it.

I'll give this one bump. I keep thinking about what the Pats are looking for as they sign and dump players daily.

I think a lot might be attitude. Seems like a lot of chip on the shoulder or misused by former teams guys[Ayers, Talib, Hicks], or enthusiastic [L Johnson].

Don't forget Freeny. Not a fan of him at all, but he's done the bare minimum to survive without High. And Mayo, who many wanted cut or traded, is starting to contribute as well.

The Cannon extension was seen as ridiculous as well because we had two quality tackles. Meanwhile we're starting guys off the practice squad at tackle this season like Fleming. Depth matters so much in this league, and pretty much nobody does a better job of building it than BB.

It's one of the reasons this team is so good late in the season compared to others. Many teams start off hot, but when injuries hit, they don't have the depth to withstand them.

I can't say enough good things about Belichick. From our view from afar, it appears he is/has: enthusiasm and love for The Game, high energy, toughness, supreme confidence, discipline, learns quickly, effective leader (personal and positional power), vast football knowledge and experience, strategic and systems thinker, delegates well, loves teaching, flexible, adapts well to change, and in some cases, drives change.

And ... he actually knows how to manage the clock when it matters!

He's the main reason I love watching this team at EVERY phase of the 12 month cycle.

The Chess to Checkers analogy is apt. While most coaches see in black and white, BB sees in living color! Their resolution is 640 x 480, BB is 4k!

I think the biggest reason BB can mix and match like this is because he knows he has a QB that can work with so little and still win games.

This isn't a championship level team right at the moment. We're close, but we need Edelman back and then to stay healthy through the playoffs, if we can do that. No one will touch us.

This is what other GMs see when sitting across from Belichick.

From your lips to God's ears, as the only alternative is a short January...

This is the perspective of the 31 other teams.

To illustrate on one really boring afternoon, I tried this with a friend. I played with chess pieces and by chess rules and he played by checkers. It was a massacre...we flipped the script and I played the checkers side after, just so I knew what it felt like to be a fan of some other team.

So then what game was Bill playing between 2005 - 2013?
