Report: Peyton to resume practicing this week

If only his kickers and offensive line would help him just a little bit.

I do think the media has moved on from him. No doubt Archie is waiting for one last solid run...though I haven't heard much from him this year

Yea. Archie should be pumping up Eli who is having a very good season with a crappy running game and a no-play defense.

It's going to be interesting to see if Kubiak has the balls to keep him on the bench. That's a toxic situation just waiting to unfold. Manning's goose is COOKED and, as bad as Osweiler has been, he's at least able to threaten every level of the field. Of the two, Osweiler gives the Broncos a better chance to win at this point. That's saying something. Manning needs to retire after the season. Hell, he should have retired after 2014 but he had to get records.

Osweiler's been bad enough that I could conceivably see Manning being an upgrade if he's actually healthy. I mean, I don't think he will be, because he was absolutely terrible when he played this year, but Osweiler's at least made it a conversation by playing badly the last few weeks.

If I had to start one of them for a single game, I would choose Manning in a heartbeat.

Remember, Manning had two good games this year -- one after a long week following a Thursday night game, and the other following Denver's bye. With extra rest for his arm, he can still put it together for a game.

Beyond one game....well, I'm glad those aren't the Pats' two qb options.

I very strongly disagree. Yeah Peyton had like two good games but, once he wins you that game can you go back to the Rotweiler? Even prime Peyton was a big time choker in the playoffs. Peyton now would be as close as you can get to a guaranteed one and done. I'd rather see if the Rotweiler can keep it up, has he been great? No. But, he's been solid and I'd rather try to play that out and see if he can play well in the playoffs.

I'm not sure we're even disagreeing at all. Beyond one game I don't trust Peyton a bit.

Osweiler this week
Osweiler next week
Manning week 17
week off
Manning (at home) divisional round
Manning (in NE) AFCCG
week off
SB

They could do that, for example, and only have Manning playing one game as a back-to-back.

Makes a lot of sense. And if the plan manages to get you to the AFCG in Foxboro on only normal rest, well, cross your fingers and trust your defense.

Dude, don't get me started on DT. He is the softest, most overrated WR in the league right now of those considered elite. I'd be interested to see what people on the Broncos board are saying about his play.

Earlier in the year when I was reading their forums, they were pulling the "if you pretend to swap the contracts DT and Emmanuel are both good deals" card (similar to what people here said in 2012-13 about Tavon/Dennard).

Denver may very well not have the division clinched prior to the final regular season game vs. the Chargers. Chargers look like sh*t this year but I'm pretty sure they've beaten Denver at Mile High before with a younger, healthier Manning at QB.

Peyton coming to New England for the AFCCG would be even better than watching him extend his record for one and done's.

I hope they have a big, fat, distracting QB controversy in Denver that causes dissention, 2nd guessing and losses of their last 3 games. Is that too much to ask from Santa?

The Chargers have faced the Chiefs (2) and Broncos (1) three times in the past four weeks. They've scored only 3 points in each of those games. And the Broncos rematch will be in Denver. They've also lost 8 of their last 9 games, with their only win coming against Jacksonville.

Even when he plays well, he's still probably going to choke in the playoffs. Why not see if Rotweiler can get it done?

Yeah but if you play Peyton once and he plays well how are you going to bench him?

My guess is that Kubiak feels the same way you do. I'm not sure about Elway.

peyton wants to pad his playoff one and done record! good luck to him on his quest.

Well, the level of pressure on him would be different--seems like little would be expected, so he might perform better.

It does seems like he would have that one game he might play well, as we've seen before this season. Then the age comes roaring back. So having back-to-back playoff games with him sounds like a recipe for failure.

I wouldn't bet against Denver in the final game but:

(1) it's an inter-division game;

(2) Rivers is a decent QB;

(3) They beat Manning in Denver in 2013 (arguably Manning's best year).

If the Division hasn't been clinched before this game, I wouldn't take it for granted and use it as a "warm up" game for Manning.

Sure you would, if Manning's arm was looking strong, because a healthy Manning > Osweiler and you'd be a coach looking towards the playoffs.

Finally some good news.
