Fans are all over Gronkowski being injured and his importance but the bigger hole is the glaring one left by Edelman being out. You want to see some crazy night and day numbers? Check these out...

Brady without Edelman - 72/137 52.55% 869 yards 7 touchdowns 4 interceptions 77.17 QB rating

Brady with Edelman 251/365 68.76% 3043 yards, 24 touchdowns 2 interceptions 113.76 QB rating

Oh and the team is 1-2 since his injury.

What I have learned in the past few weeks is Edelman is underrated by fans and probably the most irreplaceable player on the offense not named Brady. Gronkowski is a big time weapon but he can be taken away, Edelman finds a way to get open on every play. Amendola is nice slot WR but he is limited and cannot get open and make the plays that Edelman can. LaFell, what the F can I even say about him, he couldn't even carry Edelman's socks..

We have no chance in the playoffs without Edelman.

I see Gronk and Edelman as vital. Gronk often draws coverage or double teams (i.e., taken away) which leaves single coverage or soft zones for Edelman and Amendola.

If Gronk got injured before Edelman, I don't believe Edelman would be as effective.

I see Edelman as the metronome for this offense. His ability to get open quickly keeps the offense on time and in rhythm.

One thing is definitely true.. without both of them, this offense struggles mightily.

If you have Brady and:

If you have Grink or Edelman you win a lot of football games.

If you have Gronk and Edelman you win Super Bowls.

If you have Gronk and Edelman and Lewis you have the greatest offense of all time, literally unstoppable.

Gronk is a once in a generation player who can do pretty much everything. He is the most valuable non-quarterback since Jerry Rice.

Edelman is a great player for this team, but can be replaced by the next Troy Brown/Wes Welker.

I don't disagree when it comes to Gronkowski but he can be contained he has had games with 2 catches, 3 catches, and 4 catches this season. He is a matchup nightmare but if you can find someone to matchup against him and give them some help they can limit him. Edelman is able to get open from anywhere on the field against any defender, we have seen him do it against Revis, and many others.

Brady is the key to all of it. This situation is new and evolving. We only started losing these weapons 4 or 5 games ago and like one a week. I believe Brady given time could make his current cast at least pretty good. If this was his offense since camp it would look much different. Not as good as it was but better than it is now. That all said, they are in a world of hurt right now.

if GMs had to choose between randy moss and gronk, all GMs would pick randy moss and will not think twice about it.

Gronk is the scarier weapon in the sense that he's just so big, strong and fast - you can put a few guys on him to try to take him away, but if he does make the catch, you're gonna have a hell of a time bringing him down. He's an explosive play waiting to happen at any time.

Edelman is the more efficient weapon because he just gets open - he's so damn quick and agile, he breaks the ankles of anyone you put on him. You can gameplan to take him away and you still won't because he will get open regardless. Plus he's got the mind-meld with Brady, he will be looking forward, forward, forward, then turn around a split second before the ball gets there and catch it; the DB has no clue the pass was even headed that way.

So, I agree, in a sense. Gronk gives you the big plays and dictates the coverages; Edelman gives you the first downs you need to try for those big plays.

The offense has struggled when Edelman played , and gronk was not there , and we have multiple games to showcase this evidence. He is a good receiver the best we have but no world beater. Gronk is the only irreplaceable.

We made it too 2 AFC championship games without Gronkowski so you might be overestimating how irreplaceable he is.

Edelman is irreplaceable and IMO Danny would have similar success if they focused on the short to medium passes like they were in all our other previous games....including last season. Short to medium, inside and outside the numbers, Tommy doesn't get killed and we methodically march down the field sprinkling in a run here and there. Tommy won't play another 5 years waiting for LeFell and Chandler to lumber down the field. BTW Edelman is irreplaceable. Great player.

I know we lost two games but the silver lining is players are being forced to play and gain some experience and chemistry. Those deeps balls will hopefully work more often. Chandler also had a better game after we lost gronk so it's some improvement there already. Do you guys even see how we lost. Denver was the refs and last game was a pick six, punt return td and punt block td, that's like getting hit by a meteor. There is a learning curve now and it will help us in the long run. When gronk and Edelman comes back we will be better team than before they were hurt. I think we will have the bye but I like our chances of going to the super bowl even if we were a wild card.

I keep thinking how disappointed I am Dobson went on IR because I think he has been good this season when given the opportunity.

He has a high ankle sprain he wouldn't be back for quite a while anyway.

I think Brady, Edelman and Josh McDaniels are BFF. If we could only have one -- I would take Edelman. He's smarter, more competitive, and more of a leader on the offense. I love Gronk too -- but to me this is not a close comparison...

Just because he can be limited to a few catches doesn't mean he doesn't make a huge difference on nearly every play.

As much as I love Edelman, I would argue that GRONK is literally the best TE of all time.

Yea -- he may be the best TE. But who is more important to our offense. Go back to last year's SB and even the Ravens game. Also listen to the NFL audio stuff on you tube for both games.

When you do that you will probably agree with me and other posters....
