Sure the Amendola to Brady play was fun to watch - if it gets pulled off against I team I don't care for and it's NOT my QB risking injury. If I'm a defender and I see Brady doing that I WILL hit him as hard as I can even if it's taking a penalty. They were very fortunate that didn't happen.

I dunno about the trick plays... to me trick plays are things inferior teams use to throw off a superior team. The Patriots are a better team than the Eagles and too good to have to resort to that stuff. And they may have cost them the game. Hopefully lesson learned.

Which is why the play is designed to get Brady wide open. And Amendola never would have thrown it if Brady wasn't wide open. And Brady would have slid if anyone got near him before he was able to step OOB.

Maybe... but too much can go wrong IMO. What if he couldn't get down and slide as quickly and as well as he does scrambling for a first down?

I dunno... I just think teams like the Patriots don't need to have tricks like what we saw yesterday in their bag. They are too good for that stuff.

So you would have liked to have seen Baltimore playing in the AFCCG last year, then?

It's one thing when you're behind and desperate in an elimination game, it's another when you're up and just playing around and taking chances you don't need to take. Also not sure I'd equate that formation with Brady going for a pass or a "kickoff" like we saw yesterday.

Those types of plays are done when a team feels that they can't line up and beat you in the trenches. I don't like them.

It worked in the AFCCG because the Patriots had to overcome two 14-point deficits. On that night, the Patriots could not line up and beat the Ravens straight up. They actually needed the trick play.

a 36 yard pass to brady is not the reason we lost.

2 special teams tds and a pick 6.

that's a 21 point swing.

As opposed to last night, when they were down by 14 points and neded a play to get them going?

The kickoff and the Brady catch are two different beasts to me. The kickoff in hindsight was a bad call, since it gave them a short field, but i see it as being similar to the onside vs Washington, it was a play they wanted to try in game in a position where they though they could afford to do it.

The Brady Catch worked as designed for the purpose designed. Had Lafell not given up on the route the next play and had they scored on the drive then I am confident the Patriots win that game. They needed a spark, and that play provided one. Unfortunately a bad interception on the next play nullified it.

I suppose, but last year's Ravens team was very good and they matched up well against the Patriots. This Phily team is not that good. There should have been no need for a trick play against them.

They worked on that in TC a lot....it was said after the play on twitter by beat writers...they said NOW they can tell is this lol

Yeah, the closest thing I had to an objection with that play is that I wouldn't have minded if Brady had run out of bounds a yard or three sooner, just to protect against a defender launching for a dirty hit and claiming after the fact that he was somehow justified.

But even that's not really a gripe. The play worked exactly as it was supposed to, and Brady wasn't exposed to a hit.

I would have love that play in the Playoffs way to show your hand Patriots.

Makes you wonder what else they have up their sleeves. I want a fake kneel down before the half (alert the officials before hand so they don't get confused).

It sucks but we need to do whatever we can to score at this point. Our offense sucks, if a few trick plays help us score, so be it.

That play happened when the Pats were behind, not "when you're up and just playing around". So youre only allow to use trick plays in the playoffs?

I hate that they wasted it in the regular season against a team like the eagles. I think that play would have worked against anyone, so should have saved it for the play-offs..imo

I like them. Football is a game of design and strategy. It's neat to see something new and creative. IMO.

They were up by 14 on that onside "drop-kickoff".

I suppose. I guess I just don't care for them when you should be more than good enough to beat a team straight up. Yesterday it bit them right in the butt.

The Rex Jets did this stuff a lot back in the day...and there was a good reason for that.

They weren't too good Sunday.
