10 Most Frustrated Sports Cities

I would say this list is not to bad. There first choice is pretty decent but it was not who I would have thought to be first.

I'd definitely put Buffalo number 1 on the list. Cleveland's a good choice too, but Buffalo fans of both their major sports are some of the most dedicated, fanatical fans I've ever seen. And their heartbreak (4 Super Bowls lost in a row with one of them via Norwood's missed FG, Sabres losing in the Finals and then this year, the NBA team leaving) is far, far worse than Cleveland's or any other city's.

In 2000, the top would've been Boston, most likely. Patriots were awful and lost both their Super Bowls, Red Sox hadn't won the Series (I suspect Babe Ruth would've been number 1 on the departures), Bruins still haven't won since the early 70s, and Celtics didn't win at all in the 90s. Funny how 7 years changes things.

I thought for sure Hartford would make the list. We lose the Whalers and they go on to win a cup. And then, "The Patriots are coming! The Patriots are coming!" Uh... no they're not.

It's got to be Philly that city's sport fans have all lost their minds from waiting so long for someone to win anything. They have got to be the most desperate and frustrated, whether their situation warrents it or not.

Fun read, but you have to put Philly up at number one, IMO. Have they ever won anything?

The Flyers' Broad Street Bullies team beat the Bruins in 1973-4 and then the Sabres in 1974-5 for the Cup. The 76ers have three NBA Championships, the last one during the early 80s. The Eagles won NFL championships in the 40s and then 1960, I believe. The Phillies won the pennant in 1980. So, nothing in the last two decades or so, but they were wildly successful during the 70s-early 80s.

Hartford has such a low self-image that they don't even qualify for ranking.

And, besides, Connecticut has had UCONN basketball to kinda sorta make up for it.

I think frustration is a function of the fan base and intensity. By that measure, I think the title goes to my original home town of Philly, despite some titles in the '70's and '80's. Then probably Buffalo and Cleveland. I don't know how intense Seattle is (though Paul Allen's certainly putting a lot of money into championship quality teams and venues). There are, of course, those who would have put Boston at the top of the list until the Curse of the Bambino was exorcised, despite multiple Celtic, Patriot and Bruin championships.

Milwaukee doesn't belong on the list because the Packers won a championship in the last ten years and are Wisconsin's team.

Philadelphia and Seattle first came to mind when I saw the name of the list.

We would have been on that list a few years ago but not anymore.
