But it is, and demonstrably so.
Really? Demonstrably so? Please show everyone how that is the case.... Oh. that's right. It's demonstrably so only because you say so. Not because you've actually provided proof.

He'll use the jets and bills came as his examples and yet no-one on here is considering them (at least i'm not) when talking garbage time.

colts 2nd half TD was garbage time though. The moved the ball about 70 yards on their first 7 drives in the 2nd half and never possessed the ball with a shot a tying the game, jets and bills did.

Are you saying Top 10 figuratively or numerically?

Ask yourself if the 2010 and 2011 defenses were really top 10.

The 2010 Defense was most unquestionably Top 10 numerically and figuratively.

Points only which is pretty much all that matters.

Red zone, 3rd down, ypp they were the bottom of the league.

Turnovers saved their bacon.

This thread still sucks.

That is funny...But I personally find this Thread tremendous.

I'm just reading it now from Bow to Stern, because I had to call in Sikh today. And I don't know if I've ever seen such substantial and enjoyable Posts from as many different Posters on one Thread.

Could be a top 10 defense in

yards allowed per game
pass yards allowed per game
rush yards allowed per game
points allowed per game
QB rating against

by the end of week 9 depending on some other teams

But it won't matter to @Interception because he'll say we're ignoring the Red Zone defense and 3rd down defence....and all the OTHER negative stats... You know, the ones he won't actually provide...

We let the Redskins score on 50% of their red zone apperances. The same percentage our offense had against them. That's just awful by the defense.

(Please disregard that they actually only made it to the red zone 2 times, and we made it 6 times to their red zone. That is absolutely not important right now(when trying to find stats that say our defense isn't good))

Not counting that last drive today, they held Washington to 173 yards. Not a bad day for the D missing their best player.

As much as I love to watch our offence, i,m finding it just as exciting to watch the defense!

If Malcolm can do this every week.....

But I hear they are going to be 25th in second down conversion percentage in the second half of the second quarter. So they are clearly not in the top 10.

This must be one of the best defenses of all-time. They've allowed just three more points than the Broncos (although the Broncos never give away garbage time TDs, just real ones at full strength). And according to the Broncos themselves, they are one of the best defenses ever to step on a football field,

At the halfway mark, Patriots are:
5th in Points Allowed (17.9 PPG, just 0.5 PPG more than the #1 Broncos)
8th in Yards/G allowed
7th in Yards/Play
3rd in Rushing Yards allowed
10th in Passing Yards allowed
8th in Passer Rating allowed
2nd in Sacks
7th in INT
10th in Passes Defended
14th in Forced Fumbles

Top ten across the board, which is especially impressive for passing stats considering the garbage time. Patriots point differential: 133, ~16.6 PPG
Top 4 defenses (PPG): ~ 6.1 PPG diff

Looking at yardage stats:
Top 7 defenses (total yards): ~ 4.2 PPG diff

So the Patriots are winning by an average of 10.5 - 12.4 MORE points per game than the defenses statistically better. We've seen this team let up once the game is out of reach (today a prime example), and it happens WAY more often than any other team, let alone the defenses 'better' than the Patriots.

It's a top 10 defense. Case closed.

And the winner,by knockout, Satchboogie and the rest of the Pats fans who have shown @Interception to be incompetent.
