Very thin @ CB.. Will a trade for an experienced CB be viable?

We're kind of running low on those atm. Thanks again Robert.

They have a 2,3,4,6 and 2 7ths in 2016

Including predicted compensatory picks, I believe our picks are as follows:

1st (Stolen)
2nd
3rd
3rd (Compensatory -Revis)
4th
5th To Texans (K. Martin)
6th From Texans (KMartin)
6th To Bears (Bostic)
6th (Compensatory -Wilfork)
6th (Compensatory - Vereen)
6th (Compensatory - Ayers)
7th From Texans (Mallett)
7th

Thats 10 picks still. Not all of them are making the team.

Nice digging.

IIRC I don't think you can trade comp picks. Can someone verify that?

Claiborne is a starter and was covering Edelman most of the game last week.

Yup. Unfortunately for us, according to Cowboys fans he's finally figured it all out this year.

That's correct, but it makes it less costly to trade one of the other picks if there's a compensatory pick to back stop it. For example, we can trade our third rounder and still have a third rounder afterwards.

That doesn't include the 3 comp picks we could see.
Yepper. You can't trade those however they certainly factor into the equation to determine what as a team they are willing/can give up for a quality player.

We will have a 3rd round comp pick for Revis. We can trade the other 3rd rounder that isnt a comp pick if BB feels we need a CB that badly. I doubt we trade that 3rd rounder for CB though. Also, we can always use our picks for 2017 to acquire a CB if need be. This might be the first season in 3 seasons that we don't trade at the deadline.

Yep!

IMO 3rd rounder is a steep price. They would need to get in return someone who is REALLY good. We'll know in the next couple of weeks how needy they really are.

With that said, this roster is going to experience some significant change regardless. Over the next 3 weeks or so, you'll have JoJo, Stork, Chris Jones and Dane Fletcher all available for return If all make it back to the 53, and they chose to add a CB, but not release one on the current roster, FIVE players that are on the current 53 will be on the street.

Right now Dobson and Tavon are the obvious cuts IMO. Maybe Freeney (although I do like him), Thornton and King are the others?

Unofficially they list King as Malcolm's backup. Can't be right.

Maybe we can get something for Dobson. Maybe a ham sandwich?

This is is Aaron Ross and Corey Webster checking in to suggest that teams can survive a shallow secondary if the front 7 plays up to its potential.

A conditional 7th is about what he might fetch.
He could help get a bottom fishing CB from a team needing a WR. If a team like KC or CLE would talk CB on a guy in his last year (lowering his value), Dobson could be a solid reclamation project for a team needing a WR. If my team were out of it, needed a WR, and could trade a FA to be CB for Dobson, due to make less than $1M next year, I'd be interested.

We lost 2016 1st and 4th round picks in the Deflategate ruling. Did we get a 4th from somewhere else that I'm forgetting about?

I want Marcus Cooper.
Trade Dobson for Cooper straight up. After Jeremy Maclin they have not much at WR. Reiss also mentioned Cooper as a target for the same reasons I was thinking.

With Tarell Brown on IR, who might Patriots target in trade at CB? - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN

"The player I've been watching closely is Chiefs cornerback Marcus Cooper, who played in college at Rutgers. The Patriots previously tried to claim Cooper when he was waived by the 49ers, but the Chiefs had priority in 2013.

The Chiefs (1-4) drafted two cornerbacks early in this year's draft (first round/third round) and Cooper isn't playing a large role (he was inactive last week). Could they be enticed to deal him if the Patriots called and offered a late-round draft choice?"

As @BelichickFan said, the 4th rounder is the following year in 2017.

Yes but we need more than a back-end of the roster CB, IMO
