Ok, I will put this to the board for dissection:

With our plethora of newly stocked receiving core what are the possibilities of #12 throwing 50 TDs this season to top Laser-rocket-arm commercial-boy? Now before you start to think I am driving the Homer bus out of Foxboro, In all realm of possibility?

Here is Satan Manning's 2004 TD week breakdown:

1 @ New England Patriots.....2TDs
2 @ Tennessee Titans.........2TDs
3 Green Bay Packers.......5TDs
4 @ Jacksonville Jaguars......2TDs
5 Oakland Raiders............3TDs
6 Jacksonville Jaguars......3TDs
7 @ Kansas City Chiefs.......5TDs
8 Minnesota Vikings........4TDs
9 Houston Texans..........5TDs
10 @ Chicago Bears............4TDs
11 @ Detroit Lions..............6TDs
12 Tennessee Titans........3TDs
13 @ Houston Texans.........2TDs
14 Baltimore Ravens.........1TDs
15 San Diego Chargers.....2TDs
16 Denver Broncos..........0TDs

The TDs in bold, notice the teams....junk secondary's...

* Harrison, Wayne, and Stokely each had 10 TD catches that year...another "gag" record...Plus Manning just avg 3.0625 TDs a Game. 5 games of 2 TDS, 1 game of 1TD and the last was an egg against the donkeys, you might say hey, he threw six on thanksgiving day, but against the Lions come on?....plus the 3 - 5TD and 2 - 4TD games avg out with the 7 low ones.

So who's not to say that Moss, Stallworth, and Welker (or Insert list here of WRs) will not accomplish the same feat?

......and hold on to your hats but dare I add Marino's record of 5,084 yards in a season? that might be a bit much to hope for, but It would be cool to see 2 records go down in one season, this of course can only happen if the majority of the offensive line, Brady, and receiving core stay healthy threw out the season. JMO

Your thoughts....

were not the Colts..we wont try to run up the score. your saying were gonna pass 6 TDs against Lions? Why..unless they can keep us with us i doubt we keep passing and passing

(a team like the Lions)

Colts needed to pass to stay in some games because their D blew..we wont need that

No
No reason I just like saying NO.

Re: Can Brady hit 50? and I don't mean Vrable...

Whoa, whoa. I think we need to reign all the record breaking talk back in a bit. It's nice to think about, but I don't think he'll get too close to 50 td's. First of all, we have quite a tough schedule this year. IN fact, it's the third toughest?? Somewhere close to that at least.

Second of all, I imagine if we get up big on teams that (hopefully at least), we will have learned from the championship game last year and make use of the ground game a bit. I certainly hope at least that McDaniel has learned 3 passes and punt with a big lead does not guarantee a victory.

Finally, (keeping fingers crossed) injuries can occur (and with us usually do), and I wouldn't be surprised to see one of our main playmakers on offense miss at least a little time this year.

Hey, I just put it up for discussion, I to think it will be hard, but If you break it down to 3 TDs a game, maybe some 2, maybe some 4 it can happen. just discusion not visions of grandier....

Maybe in Madden.

Re: Can Brady hit 50? and I don't mean Vrable...

I'd be elated if he hit 40. An air attack like that, along with a solid ground game from Maroney & co. - now that would be a thing of beauty...

on paper yes, but really beside SAN Diego Fiss-lers, the Dolts, and in miami, which other games look so tough to you? Dallas? - new coach
Pittsburg? - our house, Bagles? you really think McSoup will be healthy in week 12? Ben-gals? won't the majority of them be in jail?

I understand very well where you are coming from....Just putting out there for disscusion.

Um, did you read the message, only just over 3TDs a game...that is not getting up big on anyone--- think about it this way, say 1 TD pass in the first Quarter, maybe 2 in the third...that doesn't sound unreasonable does it?

Finally, (keeping fingers crossed) injuries can occur (and with us usually do), and I wouldn't be surprised to see one of our main playmakers on offense miss at least a little time this year.
I already covered that in the last sentence, and I Agreed.

Um, well you seem to be forgetting one team that's oh, marginally good on defense -Baltimore. I agree about Dallas, they can be good, but are completely inconsistent so you never know what you're getting there.

McNabb may or may not be healthy come week 12, but they only lost Barber at lb (who has lost a step) and Lewis at s. They still have dawkins, two very solid corners in Brown and Sheppard and Jevon Kearse-who's apparently healthy again. On top of that, Jim Johnson knows how to run en effective defense.

Pittsburgh's defense will be good. Yes, they lost Porter, but the rest of the unit remains in tact. Tomlin may be a new coach, but he ran a pretty good d in Minnesota last year.

Finally, again this could be hit or miss, but if the giants get healthy up front they can be a very disruptive defense, especially with those ends.

Having said that, it's not that I don't think we can play well against these teams, but they can be strong units next year.

No chance.

Ah, really now, I could not have possibly guessed that......

Re: Can Brady hit 50? and I don't mean Vrable...

No way Jose...he doesn't have a strong enough arm. He misses practice from time to time due to a "dead arm". I would be happy with anything over 30 TDs.

Re: Can Brady hit 50? and I don't mean Vrable...

I can see the yards adding up to close to 4800. Would have to have some huge games to break 5000 though. If you think about it, 5100 is only 318 a game....

Re: Can Brady hit 50? and I don't mean Vrable...

No way.

We will not use our weapons to remake the Colt's offense of a few years ago, we will us it to create a ball control machine that eats up the clock and takes what it is given. Some weeks that may mean Brady racks up big yards and lots of TDs, but on others it means he will get 200 yards with 1 TD while Maroney and company run past the oppositions pass preventing defense.

Re: Can Brady hit 50? and I don't mean Vrable...

If Brady was even on pace to hit 50 for the season, you can bet that the Pats would be having a ridiculously successful season, and that they would have clinched first-round bye and home field advantage well before the end of the season.

Unlike the Colts -- who did put Manning and their playoff hopes at risk so that he could beat Marino's record -- there's no way Belichick plays Brady in the remaining games, with nothing to gain and everything to lose.

I don't think it's possible at all.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but to state what the pats will do as fact makes you a little presumptuous?

You have no idea what will happen. (as do none of us).

Re: Can Brady hit 50? and I don't mean Vrable...

I've seen the Colts up on Houston by 20, at home, with 5 minutes left in the game and Manning is still throwing homerun bombs. You can call it running up the score, you can simply call it running the offense. Whatever you call it, it is not something the Patriots do.

If the season goes the way we all hope, there is no need for Brady to have close to 50 TDs. And while we have upgraded our WRs remarkably this offseason, let's not now pretend it is the best group in NFL history and that records will surley fall.
