BB will think of this one.

Moss is notorious for taking plays off if he is not the intended receiver.

He lazes out in pattern as if he's mailing in another one, safety checks off, then he launches downfield deep.

Will this take too much time to develop?

I like it.
Deception can be so big a part of the game.

BB can AUTHORIZE Moss' languor ... on an entire portfolio of plays ... while the play goes elsewhere.
Then, on perhaps another one-third of the calls ... Randy's role REQUIRES the languid setup ... while he is the first target.

Another form of "versatility".

I like it too. And I'm sure BB will like it since he's a big fan of deception.

They had a similar play last year called...."Deer in headlights...Go Route"

The opponents knew everytime Caldwell was the primary receiver on a play because he got that "someone surgically removed my eyelids" look.

Brady would call Caldwell's number but was actually going to Gaffney or Watson.

It was very successful in the playoffs.

The best part is they can do this one time in Week 1 or 2 then Moss can dog it all he likes the rest of the year and he'll still get lots of attention from the defense.

I thought of this immediately. You can bet BB and co already have this in their game plan. Play action and heave it to Moss.

We run a different offense, though. Brady can throw to any receiver at any time so Moss better pay attention on every play.

Actually I do see that taking a little on the long side to develop... I'd suggest a variation ... a rope a dope with Moss running a slant instead of just going deep... that should save a bit of time in play development rather than waiting for him to be deep enough

Whether the ball winds up going to him on not he'll likely lose his man and the safeties will converge on Moss - someone else is going to be WIDE open (I say send Welker or Watson deep on such a play)

Now this assumes that Moss is more than a one trick pony and can actually run a route - I think he can - we'll see...

Anyway its just an idea - if the ball does get to moss he's got it in stride on a slant and if not someone else can at least pick up some significant yards after the catch with Moss drawing double teams each time

prove somehow that Moss takes plays off when the ball isnt intended for him. He said hes never done it..hes a team guy and all he cares about is winning. Winning makes him happy. if getting the ball to him means winning..thats what he wants.

You better hope that he took plays off in Oakland because, if he didn't, then he isn't the football player he once was or the one we wanted. Either he took plays off or his talent dropped off big time.

Yeah, either that or he had Aaron Brooks as his QB.

easy answer. was oakland winning? no. Since they were losing..Moss isnt happy. Unhappy Moss means Moss no try no more!

OK...so isn't "not trying any more" another way of saying "taking plays off"?

I don't think anybody can say that Moss has been a consistent high-motor player through his career. The when, why and will it continue are the big questions.

the guy said "when the ball isnt intended for him" ..so if Moss isnt getting the ball he doesnt try? FALSE

Remix, I'm really confused about your position here. You say "Unhappy Moss means Moss no try no more" but you also insist he doesn't take plays off...does that mean that you think his problem is general sulking rather than situational dogging? Is one really better than the other?

It's easy to blame his problems on Oakland's awfulness, but this reputation preceded his stint with the Raiders. In fact, it's one of the main reasons he ended up there. (IIRC, the rumblings all started when he apparently quit on his team in a conference championship game.)

Just to clarify, I do like the signing a LOT. I just think it's a calculated risk.

i never said Moss doesnt take plays off. I said the only time he takes plays off is when hes unhappy..generally when the team is having a bad year and doesnt seem to be giving it their all

We are a winning team. Moss will contribute..Moss wont take plays off. If we were to start losing games repeatedly..then Mosswill take plays off because Winning is all he cares about. If hes not winning..hes not gonna bother trying.

the other guy said: Moss takes plays off when hes not the go to guy on the play. i said thats FALSE.

its quiet simple.
