It's his own business whether he carries insurance on the vehicle itself (in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't many wealthy owners of Maybachs who self-insure for the vehicle itself because the Premium would be so high and they have the cash flow to cover damages). I doubt Spikes would fall in that category of owner, but it is a separate matter.

However, "driving an uninsured vehicle" (which is what the article says) really means that Spikes didn't have any liability insurance for damage to other vehicles, other property or, most importantly, other persons. I suspect there are a few big lawsuits in his future.

$100k is the starting point for a Maybach. The interiors are nearly always Custom and the price tag well north of that.
I think of Maybachs as one of those things for which, "If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it."
