Collins is better off as an udfa.

@Gil_Brandt: If La'el Collins goes undrafted, he's a FA --> CANNOT go back into draft.

If he gets drafted and does not sign --> CAN re-enter in 2016.

nope, and if he goes undrafted I could see him in NE. Having 2 former teammates would be a good selling point.

Ex-girlfriend was just killed. Cops want to question him. Cops say he's not a suspect (which is meaningless). He's not been charged with anything. He'd have been a first round pick without the situation.

I think it's the reputation that surrounds the team afterwards. No one wants to be associated with that.

Recall all the stink that the NFL got just last year thanks to Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice and Greg Hardy to name a few. This is the absolute WORST time to be accused of anything close to physical abuse, let alone murder.

And of course, let us not forget a certain perp named Hernandez.

Simple statement of any GM who drafts the kid:

If he's innocent, he's welcome to sign with us. If he chooses to go back into the draft next year, we understand. If he's not cleared, we'll cut him loose. With the way the NFL rules are, we just felt it was only fair.


Anyone with a brain would understand that. Hell, Goodell might even get it.
