PATRIOTS NEWS Aaron Hernandez found guilty of first-degree murder

Sure, but last I checked, Odin Lloyd had not murdered anyone with Aaron Hernandez. So until those two engaged in that behavior together, why should we hold Odin Lloyd to a higher standard than Hernandez' employees? Everyone I mentioned was damn well aware that Hernandez liked to smoke weed and party.

The point was, until there is proof that Odin Lloyd engaged in criminal activity (marijuana aside) with Aaron Hernandez, there is no reason for us to expect he either was aware or or partook in said criminal activity. Why wouldn't he expect, as everybody else around Hernandez did, that he was just another football player who liked smoking weed, chasing skirts and hitting clubs?
There's been multiple cases where I worked with someone for years and never knew they were nuts until it was revealed a non-work related social situation. I've never had a close friend who I didn't realize was nuts at the time. One of the foundations of your argument was proved to be absurd. It is time to re-evaluate your position.

Didn't you read any of Lloyd's texts to his sister the night he was killed? He had a pretty good idea what was coming.

You're focusing way too much on the work aspect. I listed three people who I happen to know were acquainted with Aaron Hernandez. I'm sure there were plenty of other people around Hernandez (his mother, his fiancee) that were surprised to find out he was going Dexter Morgan on people in his spare time, and yet, were as aware or more aware of his lifestyle than Lloyd was.

My position is that we should give Odin Lloyd the benefit of the doubt, and not assume things we don't know.

OK, but is it safe to assume that says something about Lloyd or his behavior? I don't think so.

It shows a lapse in judgement. I don't know if Lloyd was a dealer, and really don't care. That said, if you stay close a nutcase, bad stuff is gonna happen. Not all of us learn that before our mid 20s. That doesn't mean that he deserved to be killed, but his choice to associate with a nutcase certainly increased the odds of it.

I don't think we have nearly enough information for you to make these statements about Lloyd.

Just a reminder, here's Odin Lloyd's criminal record in full before Hernandez murdered him:

The only statements I made about Lloyd is that he should have realized Hernandez was bad news and shouldn't have associated with him...

That's rather easy for us to say, in hindsight. Again, I honestly don't think we have enough information, or are in the place, to question Lloyd's judgement.

And that's besides my point. The point is that Hernandez is not just some troubled youth from the inner city who couldn't get away from his ghosts, got rich and still hung around with the wrong guys even though he knew better. He's a more unique case. And from multiple accounts, people have suggested he has tendencies of a sociopath.

One big question regarding Lloyd's character is the question as to what he knew regarding the double murder, and when.

If he knew Aaron blew those two guys away, but still thought it was party time, he may not be of fantastic character.

However, there is too much conjecture, as I don't really trust anyone in the case to tell the truth, and the police have to do quite a bit of guesswork.

In the end, Aaron was a stone cold sociopath who gunned down three people. He will now spend the rest of his life in prison.

"He (AH) doesn't really look at it as jail," Sheriff Hodgson said. "It's more like training camp."

Pretty damning indictment of Belichick, eh?

Yeah, really--first thing I thought when I read that: "what the hell does he think he's 'training' for?"

Jail is training camp for prison of course...

Personally, I think Hernandez will thrive in prison. He will have followers just because of who he is and he will be feared because of his size and the heinousness of his crimes.

If Lloyd was 18 or 20, I could understand. The guy was 27.
I know a girl who is friends with Lloyd’s sister and she said he was always all ****ed up on angel dust.

Whether he was or not, he didn't deserve to be killed.

27 year olds like to hang out with star athletes with lots of money & women, too. I should also point out that plenty of athletes live that lifestyle, and even have guns, smoke weed, etc. that aren't going out and killing people.

Until we know more, at this point in time, with all the information we have available, it would be inappropriate to judge Odin Lloyd's decision-making. All blame should go to the guy that behaved completely irrationally in the situation, Aaron Hernandez.

I don't blame Lloyd at all for his murder. That said, we should all choose our friends wisely. It's OK if you choose to believe that a coherent 27 year old that routinely partied with someone didn't realize he was a nutcase. I simply won't agree with you.

Fair enough.
