An intrepid fellow on Reddit decided to chart the likelihood of being able to safely get a beer, which he defined as having a <10% chance of that team scoring within the next 120 seconds (of game clock, admittedly).

The orange zone is the safe zone; the white area is the danger ("You might miss a TD zone").

I have a knack for grabbing a beer as soon as our defense takes the field and then we get a Pick 6. Happened again to me last year at the San Diego game. The play was called back for ******** reasons but the curse remains.

I think most of us have this chart internalized in some form or another. Usually you 'just know' when it's safe to make a run. And yeah, DVR makes it a lot less stressful than in the old days.
